With all the talk about our freshman getting playing time, I almost forgot, or was a little taken aback, about the number of Sr's that started on offense and defense last night. It's not a small number.

Next year, we will be a year older and year wiser, BUT at the same time we lose Stocker, Cooper, G. Jones, Moore, Cooper, Thomas, Walker, Thompson, Reveiz, Lincoln, Cunningham, as well as Williams, Frazier, Wolf. I'm sure there's another one or two I'm leaving out.

I'm having a hard time imagining a situation where next year will be any better than this year simply because of senior attrition. It may be worse simply due to the fact that senior leadership will be sorely lacking next year. 2012 should be a different story. Dooley's freshman will be Jr's, including Bray. 2013 will really be the year to see if this staff has what it takes as we'll finally be playing with close to a full deck of cards.

What say you -- will next year be better or worse in the W/L column?

Will be dramatically better. Senior losses are nearly negligible.

I don't know that I agree that senior losses "are nearly negligible", but I like your enthusiasm!

Will we be dramatically better in the W/L column too? If so, what will our record be?

Don't care what the record will be. Want to see improvement.

we will be lightyears better if only because we will have an experienced Oline and qb. On D our dline sitch will be much improved and secondary will be seasoned. No reason to expect that the loss of a few seniors won't impact the team but besides walker and reviez, "what have they done for me lately"

I will need more than general improvement next year. If we "improve", but that improvement doesn't result in wins, what have you really accomplished?

Not a lot of NFL potential outside of Stocker who will be mid rounder in April. Walker has been the mystery this year. Jones and Moore has shown flashes but are not elite players. This rest will be remembered for going through the lean years and that's being kind

You would see if they weren't out there. Reviez had a solid game, walker has not been as good as expected. But we will be better mostly because we will have the same coaches for a second year in a row. Thank god some of these dumbass fans don't have a say in it. We look like the Bammers after replacing the Bear. The big difference they didn't fire the bear for running down the program before he left.

I hope we see more of Bray as the year goes on. He is small but I think a better option. Unless it is like we said all along Simms is in until the line gets better and bray has another year to develop. If that is the case we better get ready to have the worse loosing season ever. Oh well, it is once again all about recruiting. Simms just sucks. Not on this game alone, no, I have said it all year. Beat me for it... what ever, it is what it is. I would like to see Bray work with the ones all week as part of the game plan and go for it. He will get better when he gets the timing with his receivers and that only comes with the ones. :hi:

we will not be worse.....we need some DL pash rush without a blitz and more speed at the Linebackers position before we will own the world again, which in my opinion in right around the corner

You have to crawl before you walk IGMO!!!

Fine point. But I believe that crawling in college football equates to the basics -- things like having enough personnel on the field, running the proper route, etc. In other words, you learn to crawl in the off-season. If this coaching staff can't teach this team how to crawl over the course of not one, but two off-seasons, it needs to crawl out of Knoxville.

It all starts up front on the DL.... We are simply not very good.

Jackson - Transfer- Was with the program a month prior to season

Hughes- Solid, but nothing behind him

Thomas- Converted DE to DT to Center back to DT

Walker- Undersized and a liability aganist the run. 0 Sacks

Williams- He is like my 401k up and down over the past 2 Years

Ayers - OG walk on at 262 now at Dt

Smith and Miller - TF- Will be good in time.

Bowens- Is learning how to take a shower

Jeffery- Could be the next Chase Nelson

Bohanon- Jury is still out

Walls- Unproven and has not really played ball in 3 years

Martin- Injury prone

Perhaps 2012 or 2013 is when the DL is looks like a SEC squad.

Please pass the Jack as I will have another one of the ROCKS

2011 cant be worse then this garbage right now, its embarrassing. If we dont go 6-6 next year Dooley should be fired. I am sick of his post-game interviews to. I know we are the inferior team, but act pissed off or something hes always smiling. We are so undisciplined its rediculous. 3 PENALTIES IN A ROW. I'm sorry but Lane Kiffin and our Tennessee team last year was as fundamentaly sound and as smart a team we have had in a while. Dooley must not be preaching fundamentals. How about the timeout on a punt because of to many guys in the huddle, please get that under control its embarrassing.

I know we are out numbered, full of youth, and our talent sucks right now, but we have to preach the small things. I cant stand all these penalties and constant disorganization. I hate Kiffin for what he did as much as anybody else, but theres no doubt in my mind he is a better coach then Dooley is.

I would guess 7-5 next year, with an 8-4 being an outside shot. Can't tell about a bowl game though. 2012 will hopefully be 9-3.

fire Dooley. We are not going to get Grueden or Cowher or any coach that will come in and save the day overnight. I don't like it any better than most on this board, but this is what was left for him to try to make Chicken Salad out of. Firing Dooley after a couple of seasons will only put us back more years IMO.

2011 Tennessee Volunteers Football Schedule - UT. I've a feeling our d-line is going to be a lot better next year, we are returning some players on the d-line that will contribute, more than likely getting Couch, and our schedule is easier, especially the first few games of the season. We will win at least 7 games next year and probably win 8. Arkansas loses Mallet, we get LSU, UGA, USC at home.

I agree with us winning 7-8 in a best case scenario, but Arkansas could put a razorback hog back there and he'd throw for over 300 yards... but, it may be time for Petrino to move on LOL! :p

No. It will/should be better. Everyone loses a few SR's. The easiest way to describe what I personally want to see out of next year is to say : "The whole game against OofU, UofF, Bama should look a lot more like the LSU game."
-Not in terms of execution so much. More so the competitive nature of the 60 minutes. We shall see.

Thomas and Frazier are not Seniors. The only Seniors we will miss are Reviez, Jones, Moore, Walker, and Stocker.

No disrespect to our seniors, but those guys haven't exactly been world beaters, so I'm not sure losing them to more talented freshman is that bad of a scenario. Outside of maybe Reveiz, Stocker, and Chris Walker, I don't really see any players we are really going to be sorely missing, other than just from a depth standpoint. These guys just aren't top notch players.
