If nothing else, it's something else to put on film.

I have a theory that may be dumb. Who knows. But, I think they are running a little of the Wildcat to show the stud visiting RB we have in for a visit a little something he might like to see. I wouldn't doubt it with the game in hand. If that's the case I think that's awesome. Pender is going to be a beast.

Hmmm. That's actually pretty insightful. Are you sure you're on the right forum? :)

I really like the Wild Marlin name for it.

He ran it in high school, but did he ever throw it?

That "flavor of the month" has led to success for a lot of teams. I'm for whatever gives us a chance to win. It's not like we can run the ball anyway.

Strangely enough, throwing the ball all over the field has led to success for a lot more teams than the wildcat, but folks around here seem to frown on that.

Dooley has hinted that AJ Johnson (yes that AJ) will be running it next week.

Wildfish!

Wildfish!

Dangit, I spent all last night amusing myself by saying we were gonna run more Wildfish to just generate some offense. I WANT MY NAME TO STICK!

Alabama went to it quite a bit with Ingram last year and Richardson this year. Helps hammer home the point. I was wondering if that would be a way just to get some movement, and it seemed to work. Lane ended up with some decent YPC in garbage time. I wonder what the Wildfish would look like it we tried it more.

Bama can run whatever they like; wildcat, wing T, veer, wishbone, or the single wing. Anything that requires their guys to fire off the ball and block forward, they do quite well.

Our guys, otoh, only like to block backing up. That's why we average 2 yards rushing per game in the SEC...and that's why we're 0-5 and are staring at 0-6.

If we're in any way reducing the effort necessary to develop an effective pro-style rushing attack (tailback 5 yards behind the qb) in favor of gimmicks, then... well, it appears we've thrown in the towel.
