After seeing yet another example of Eric Berry's playmaking potential with the football in his hands, how can Phil not toss him the rock a few times in the backfield?

With Gerald Jones having that high ankle sprain, does anyone think that against Bama EB might take snaps?:popcorn:







And oh yeah, Eric Berry for Heisman 2009.

Not finding a way to get the ball in Eric Berry's hands on offense occasionally is basically malpractice.

but in all seriousness we need to pull out all the stops to beat bama, so I think we need to do it. Alabama wont expect it. and also get well Jones, we need you man

If berry got hurt our team would crumble...

I mean.. he is a beast. a monster.. the greatest to ever step foot on the field..

but if the 0.00001% happened and he got hurt..

i would cry.. i would cry big sobby man tears...

Why can't we put creer or vinson at QB instead..

i've always wondered what berry could do on kick returns. i'm kind of surprised we don't use him back there since he is so elusive in the open field.

it's football. injuries are part of the game.

dont get me wrong.. i would LOVE to see it.. kick returns, quarterback, running back..
i wouldn't mind giving it to him everytime..

i just think they wont because they are hesitant of him getting injured

I don't doubt that that's the case. However, by that logic, he should just lateral to somebody else every time he intercepts a pass because, you know, you don't want to risk getting him hurt on the return.

As I said above: malpractice.

there's a reason berry is the school record holder for career interception return yardage and he's only a sophomore. it's obvious that he's a playmaker. if he can help the other aspects of ut's game, i'm all for playing him on special teams and offense.

we did the same thing with carl pickens in the early 90s and mark jones earlier this decade. we benefited from both.

I think it would be worth taking him out of a couple defensive plays to use him as a punt returner. Teams would kick away from him.

Put him in as a receiver a few times a game. Use him as a decoy most of the time if you have to. This is like winning $10,000 from a radio station and turning down the prize because you're afraid it will make you ineligible for the $50,000 giveaway next month.

I just don't get the logic. The guy's a safety, for chrissakes; his job is to launch himself as hard as possible into the other team's players a dozen times a game. The additional, incremental risk of having him run back a few punts or catch a few passes a game cannot be that high.

Berry is a playmaker. He is best with the ball in his hands. We should try to get him the ball at least once a game.

With Jones hurt, we need to atleast put him on the field on the offensive side a few times if anything to force bama to put their best <b>2</b> db's on him that'll help disrupt them and maybe throw it to him once maybe twice to keep'em honest.

You can bet your bottom dollar that coaches like Miles, Saban or Meyer would be using his talent on offense some. Anyone remember Mark Jones? Why can't Berry be used like that. I know fatigue is an issue, but that's about all I can think of other than worrying about injury.

I Quote CPF from last nights Press conference "I've never seen anyone like Eric Berry, it's amazing what he does with a football in his hands". Most logical thing he's said all year.....time to try something, like, oh, I don't know, putting him in on offense?

Our D ,imo has played 2/3 more time than our offense, he is probably conditioned to do it now :thumbsup:
