More than that.

The Vols get more national and regional TV coverage than the Horns do. I live in MO and got about 9 free TV games for UT... maybe 3 for Texas.

If he had gone to Texas and succeeded... what would that actually prove? The Big 12 is even more top heavy now with Nebraska leaving. If he succeeds at UT then it will draw notice.

I never saw all the "positives" for taking the Texas job unless he's just a lazy recruiter... and that would never help him get a HC job.

at a point, it was looking almost certain he was taking the job. this was right before Christmas. things changed after the bowl game and he opted to stay at Tennessee. He turned down texas to stay here.

Also, as for TV coverage...we have the Longhorn Network starting up soon. National ESPN coverage for every game.

We're still hearing Chryst and Bostad from Wisconsin...but apparently Harsin from Boise is still a candidate. We already have Bo Davis from Bama as our DT coach.
