Wilcox to Texas? (latest rumors say he has offer)

If Wilcox does in fact leave for anywhere we wont know until we after we beat Carolina. CDD is doing everything possible to keep this staff together atleast for another season.

I don't blame you. Texas could/should do a lot better than Muschamp.

There's a guy about 150 miles north in Fort Worth that's winning at a 85% clip.

With Muschamp out of the way, no reason Texas shouldn't be able to lure him to Austin.

If Wilcox leaves that's fine. I want him to stay because we need stability which is something we've not had in a long time. If he does leave, we need to fill his spot with someone who wants to be here and get us back to a high level. Once we get back up there, we can afford to lose a assistant coach here or there. I hate that everyone thinks of UT as a stepping stone job. It's not. However, this crap turns out, I hope whoever the coach is finds the value of being a UT Volunteer. GBO!

Wilcox is part of Mack's process. He is one of several that are going through the interview process and Mack told the Board of Regents he wouldn't announce until after the bowls. They also mentioned that the Texas Board of Regents has given Mack a "blank check" for coaches. TFWIW

I'd take a serious look at the NFL if given a blank check. I'm convinced Wilcox is a fallback option. This is too important of a hire for Mack not to choose the most qualified coordinators available.

If Brown has a "blank check", there's no reason to hire Wilcox.

I disagree. I know this year was not an indication(nor should it be), but we all saw what he accomplished at Boise with 2/3* talent. Imagine what he could do with all the 4/5* talent Texas has handed to them. It would take a couple of years to install his schemes there, but if it were me, he would be one of my top choices.

if Wilcox is in discussion at this point, sounds like he has made his way down to the fallback option..

Heard Jon Gruden purchased land in Austin.

Seriously, this is bad for Justin Wilcocks. If he leaves, he leaves, end of story. But, if this is correct and to me sounds legit, that means he may/may not have the offer but is part of a pool of interviewees. And with Mack Brown and a open checkbook, he ain't gettin the job. Simple as that.

Sooooooo, back to Knoxville. And let's say he doesn't light it up next year. And we want a DC that can count. He's out and he can't say anything about loyalty.

Simple as that.

IMHO, if wilcox to texas was a done deal already, he would not be at practice which he is today.

More importantly, when he no longer is a candidate for the position, it will be announced publicly as soon as that occurs. Without that news, he is still in play.

Says on Rivals posted today:
"Brown reportedly will fill Muschamp's vacated position with former Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. A fish in the back pocket? Time will tell."
