Wilcox to Texas? (latest rumors say he has offer)

Dooley making a bowl game with this team and brown not making one with all the talent they have...jmo

Well, it wouldn't be any great feat to be a better coach than Brown, but I wouldn't take one season as the ultimate barometer to compare the two.

Brown should be competing for championships every year with the crop of talent he can see out of his office window.

I hope this doesn't become the case. This would be another major setback for UT recruiting, and make it a slower climb to dig out of the hole we are in. If Wilcox does go to TX, UT needs to step up big time with the $$$ and get a bigger name to replace him.

That's like comparing restaurants and saying "Only thing Establishment A has better is food."

I agree, Texas does have better food, but It took ole Davey and the Tennessee Boys to give there life, to save there ass didn't it.

I understand the market forces at play and that college football is a business.

That being said, I don't like it when coaches don't care about Tennessee -- the state, the university, its people -- the way I, and many of you, do. That's what leaving after one year says to me, if the reports from Chris Low are to be believed.

And that being said... Tennessee gets 300,000 back and can still fork over money for a more than competent defensive coordinator. This isn't the end of the world.

Not the end of the world if he leaves. He has a 300k buyout, we can toss that and more towards one of the hot DC names out here. Atleast we are in prime coaching turnover season.

Well, if there is any truth to there being some internal issue with Wilcox and Smith....and if Dooley has stepped in to limit Wilcox's ability run the D, then I say he will bailout to TX. This would be the driver...more control as the DC.

I can't wait till the real UT is a job that coaches and assistants view as a long term job.

As long as the staff can hang on to Chaney, I think everything will work out. I was expecting big things out of Wilcox, but I haven't seen him land big recruits for ut. I see chuck smith's name mentioned a lot with recruits vs Wilcox.

If we could get Randy Shannon in place of Wilcox I will load up my car and drive from Nashville tonight to pack his stuff.

IF Wilcox has taken the job, don't doubt that CDD doesn't already have a list of possible replacements.
