Wilcox is a Freakin Joke

Sorry, but I disagree with your assesment of teague. If you watched his play against UF you would've seen multiple excellent plays especially in the endzone. Teague's only issue against UGA is that he was in man-to-man coverage against WRs who were both faster than he is by just a little.

CJW had us playing in quarters rather than a cover 2 because they were trying to 1) stop the run, 2) contain Murray, and 3) take UGA's TE, Charles, out of it. 1) They pretty much stopped the run. 2) They did not contain Murray very well. 3) They did pretty much take Charles out of it. The problem is if your CB's aren't fast enough to run step for step with the WRs then they'll lose inside position and WRs just have to run under a well thrown ball.

We needed a different scheme defensively for this game. The cover 2 2 deep zone to give safety help over the top would've been smarter for stopping those deep routes. Then you have to figure out how to stop the run and contain Murray and cover Charles with the front 7. I think it was a pick your poison and we chose to make Murray beat us deep... and he did.

After the first 2 overthrown balls to King CJW should've adjusted and at least put 1 safety deep. The one time we had the safety help Waggner almost intercepted the pass.

Teague and our CBs don't suck. They just don't have elite speed. They need deep safety help. No shame in that.

Coleman wouldn't have done any better in there either.

We could use better talent for sure. We're working on that in our recruiting. 2013 our Defense will be of championship quality.

Until then if you have to get down on someone get on the coaches. I'm still in support of this staff, but they got out coached tonight... on both sides of the ball AND in overall team leadership.

im pretty sure having corners that cant keep up with receivers on a fly route will torpedo any scheme.

that being said, i was dissapointed in the play calls, but i wouldnt say a joke

Where was the safety help on those deep balls? Maybe I over looked it....

I have taken up for the coaching staff long enough. I had bought into the we are young, we dont quite have the talent yet, we just need time statements. You know after last night I am more dissapointed in our coaching than I have ever been. At no point in that game did I get the feeling we could win. We were outcoached from the get go. UGA came to play to win and we didn't.
Wilcox I am sick and tired of seeing the QB sit and pick us apart on 3rd down because you dont bring pressure. I am sorry but I would rather get burnt than see us not hit the QB in the mouth.
Chaney if you run another Jets sweep I might ride up to Knoxville and burn your dang couch and mattress. Go with what works. All you had to do was look at the tape of the Boise game. Hit them on 5 yard slants and keep throwing to your TE in the middle. Your playcalling this game was terrible. BTW can you get a true Center signed this coming class. James Stone is not I repeat not a center.
Special teams how about we have open tryouts on campus and lets see if we can get a kicker who can hit an extra point. The only bright spot on special teams is Devrin Young. That kid is gonna house one against someone this year.
Dooley I guess I am more than disgusted at you than any of the other coaches. You try a 51 yard FG on the first drive knowing we have a kicker who can barely hit a 20 yarder? Then with 8 minutes left down by two td's you punt? I am truely beginning to wonder if you are the right person to lead us back to championship form. What happened to the ballsy coach who ran fake punts and went for it on 4th? Sorry but this playing not to lose it big sucks. I want to see us go all out and leave nothing behind. Our team came out this game and had no intensity. The only player I saw fired up was Bray and that seemed to be when he was pissed with our coaching staff.

You didn't over look it. It wasn't there except for one time and Prentis Waggner almost got the pick on that one.

Oh wait a minute, that was sarchasm. Safeties in a 2 deep zone would've helped out our slower CBs on the deep routes. So what you're saying is that better scheming would have made up for the weaknesses of the secondary. How clever of you. Lol.

In all honesty, UGA really isn't a great team this year, but that offense is a bit of a nightmare to scheme against. They can beat you at every level. They aren't great at any one thing, but they are pretty darn good and just about everything.

I can't say that I don't agree with you for the most part, but I think it's a little soon to start burning the furniture. (I like our coaches and I think they will get us there. Just maybe not as fast as we would like.) Smart people sometimes over think things and end up out smarting themselves. I think that was the case here. Maybe CDD will realize that when he sees the video. The next 3 games are games where we're supose to get crushed. Let's hope CDD goes back to the basics and just tries to do what we do well and lets let the kids have fun. What's the worst that can happen? We lose? Heck, they can beat us, but they can't eat us. That's against the rules.

My bad. I'm sorry.

Ummm... the players suck! The coaches suck! The fans suck! Smokey sucks! You suck! I suck! We all suck! I'm burning my crap and going to make a youtube video about it! Then I'm going to VN to ***** about not having anything because it's all burned!

GO VOLS! (even though they suck!)

No one reads my posts anyway. They're too long.

You know I had myself believing they will get us there until last night. I just cant understand how poorly prepared we were for this game. We had pretty much 3 weeks to prepare for it and still looked bad. Having that toss sweep stopped for negative yards 4 times really pissed me off. I mean we kept calling it though.

Heard Tim Priest interview Marsalis Teague after the game. Teague said they knew going in that there would be some 1 on 1 match ups and they didn't execute as they should have. CJW picked his poison and GA executed better. If CJW had schemed to stop the passing game, you guys would be whining about giving up huge rushing yards.

I have to say that I was stunned as well. I thought they would be really energized and the coaches would have them dialed in. I was a little worried about what CJW was going to do, but I had faith. I was really afraid we were going to rely on the nickel and that UGA would gash us with run plays all night. Maybe that would've been better than giving up the deep ball. I think the smart guys just over thought it. KISS. Idk.

When they came out of the tunnel I looked at my wife and said, "Oh ****. They look flat.". I was hoping they were just calm. I love having CDD as our big cheese, but I'm begining to worry that he can't handle the pressure of big games. I thought it at times last year, but I told myself he was just having to deal with so much extra garbage that it was a big load. Now here we are after the UF and UGA games and he seems a little brittle to me at times. Again, Idk.

I think we're trying too hard. Coaches need to keep teaching these young guys the fundamentals and just let them play. Rogers, ZRO, Arnett (sp?), Rivera, and Poole/Lane/Neal/Young are a butt load of play makers and weapons. 3 wide with 1 TE and 1 RB. 3 wide with 2 TEs. 4 wide and 5 wide sets. Let it rip! If we're going to lose at least let the boys have fun doing it.

Of course, now that Bray is most likely out for a while I don't know that I think Simms can come in and sling that ball the way Tyler did for us. But what choice to we really have.

I love our coaches, but this program just took a serious body blow to it's confidence. CDD needs to cowboy up and lead this team and this fanbase through the **** storm we're about to go through the next 3 weeks. Getting beat is what it is and we can handle it as long as we can keep believing in our leaders.

I said the same thing. CJW picked his poison. We put it on Murray's arm and said "Beat us". And he beat us a few times like we owed him money.

All of that being said, you can't always expect the deep pass when you've got them pinned on their 7 ydline. Sometimes it just comes down to the coaching duel and UGA won that battle.

I don't like the D CJW went with. I said several times in posts on here earlier in the week that it was my biggest concern. After the game I would say we blew it on both sides of the ball.

Teague and our other cb's suck because they can't cover the deep ball and don't have elite speed.

If someone can ignore the deep balls we were beat on and all the times we were beat and their receivers were just overthrown then you're crazy or you just have blind homerism and know crap about football.

It's Wilcox's fault Georgia scored 20!

Give it a rest. If you'd told anyone that UGA would score 20, everyone would have said we would win the game. So, let's quit being complete idiots and look at the game rationally.

Red zone coverage is different, there's no room to get beat on the play. Georgia saw they could beat us deep and now other teams will do the same.

Sure the defensive scheming might have hurt us... But that means Wilcox was depending on the cb's to be able to make the plays when they throw the deep ball. I'm just not sure why he had confidence in them. They haven't proven they can cover it yet.

I think we're recruiting well enough to help ourselves in the secondary. We'll get better, and I agree on putting Coleman in there. There's no way in hell to be any worse than what Teague showed tonight.

Given the poor performance tonight and lack of anyone stepping ip in the secondary, I am all for throwing the freshmen out there and let them figure things out. In all honesty the next two games are going to be more about getting experience against top level teams than winning. Worst case scenario, the DBs get beat alot (so not much change from now), best case we have a youngster step up and take over where Janzen left off.

I'm right with you. I'd much rather see Coleman in there taking his lumps than to see a damn junior get prison raped on the outside time and time again.

So because you were ignorant(technically) of the reality that they are better than us, and "thought we'd beat them", Wilcox should be fired? LoL

I think we're talking around each other here. You're saying our CBs suck because their not elite and can't run with elite WR speed. I'm saying they don't suck just because they're not elite. They're good DBs they're just not the top talent.

It's like you're saying if she's not a 10 then she's a dog. I'm saying she's pretty because she's a solid 7. She's just not a 10.

If our coaches knew going in that the CBs couldn't run with elite speed guys in man then they should not have put them in that position to start with. If our coaches didn't know it going in they sure as hell should have figured it out by half time and made the adjustment.

I don't know what was in their heads. All I know is that if you think we're going to have elite talent at every position all of the time to compete with the best then YOU don't know much about football. The vast majority of the players on most teams are not the 5 star guys. The coaches have to find the most effective ways to use what they've got. Teague is a good cover corner. He just doesn't have elite speed. He's not a 10. He's a solid 7.

Oh, and yes I am a 100% self admitted UT homer. Doesn't mean I can't be objective and call a duck a duck. The coaches blew this one, imo.

well hell Mr. Shuler....apparently you have it all worked out. Why don't you go fill in for Wilcox this weekend and see what you can do. I'm all for it if you can get it done with what he has to work with. Lets all get real... we are still fighting the f-up known as the Lane Kiffin era. As far as Teague goes... we didn't recruit a DB named Marsalis Teague. We did however sign a pretty f'n good receiver by that same name. When we have players getting beat in the positions that they were brought here to play... then we can bash them on here, but not when you got a guy out there who up until 18 months ago was on the opposite side of the ball, and switched just for the good of the team. We are not very big or deep on our defense. Give them time or go elsewhere. GBO!!!!

I think we're talking around each other here.

Yeah, I think that's a fair statement. What's bad is that they tried that post pattern at least what... 5, 6, or 7 times? Bobo was quoted as saying it was there all night, they just kept overthrowing it. After post #3 we should have made some adjustments.... so yeah, this one is mostly the coaching I suppose.

We need more speed on the defense in the worst way.
