I can't believe I'm joining the insanity rampant on VolNation these days, but here goes:

Why not promote Wilcox to HC? We retain him and Sirmon and maintain a semblance of continuity, which might allow us to hold onto some of what appears to be a decent recruiting class. He's pretty clearly destined to become a head coach somewhere and probably sooner rather than later. Why not make it here?

The alternative is the status quo, which seems increasingly unsustainable. If we lose to NC State or Florida (or both) to begin next season, Dooley will instantly become a dead coach walking, which will doom us to another season down a toilet filled with anger, despair, and uncertainty. Maybe we should accelerate the arrival of reality and move on to the next chapter.

I realize that the appearance of a coaching coup d etat would be unconventional, but if it has been done before to any extent it was at UT, with Fulmer sinking the rusty knife in Johnny's back. It's ugly, but, hey, this is the world we live in.

It's amazing how that dismal performance on Saturday changed my perception of Coach Dooley.

everyone is acting like we already lost to Florida and NC State.
We can't replace dooley on the assumption he will lose those games...
you know what that say when you assume.

Kind of like the presidential race - anybody but the incumbent. More of the same don't get it. Not sure on Wilcox as a head coach, although it is clear he is more organized and has his side of the ball playing better than offense and ST. If they want continuity with the recruiting class it probably works. Just don't know enough to take a position.

Another failed attempt to FIRE DOOLEY thread. Let's get some players in here before we start turning over coaches. That is in process so unwad your panties. Dooley will be here for a while.

Like your post and analogy. Jus surprised it made it past the mods - they make political references disappear faster than a halftime lead for A & M

Wilcox and Sirmon are probably the two brightest spots on the staff. I imagine they have very open ears right now, and if I had to wager, they will both be gone. How salvagable does Dooley look if both of them are not here for 2012? Granted, I could be totally wrong. But it could be a question that Hart has to ask.

Let's get some players in here before..... Well, I am not a head coach and have no desire to be one, but I am positive that when Stone can't snap the ball to the q.b., it would not have taken me 5 or 6 games to figure that out. I would have replaced him with Bullard or Crowder
earlier in the season.
How many times in games has Stone mis handled the ball and rather than us being in 2nd & 3, he hikes it over
the q.b's head and we end up in 3rd & 28?
I vividly recall that we were NOT going to get the first down, but we could have easily made a field goal against Florida. What happens on the next play, before we get the kicker on the field? You guessed it, Stone
mis handled the ball, it went over Brays head and we are not out of field goal position. That is 3 lost points.
You can bring in the Pittsburgh Steelers, but with Dooley doing things like that, we still won't win.
That is just one example of coaching decisions that cost us points.

Every game this season, the ref would call a penalty for "False start" Would you like to guess who that player was every game? J. James......
If I had bet that he would get one per game, then I would have been a few dollars richer.
J. James was not focused. That is coaching.
A frog is a frog, even if you put a dress on it. Dooley and coaching staff can't/aren't coaching well.
