Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Dylan Wiesman still thriving under radar

Dylan Wiesman wasn’t named to the Preseason All-SEC team despite being named an all-conference player last season, but he wasn’t at all surprised by that.
Being an All-SEC player one season typically means a free pass to the preseason all-conference team the following season, but Wiesman is used to the hard road.
Wiesman, who contemplated transferring out of the Tennessee program in preseason camp last year when he lost his first-team spot, chose instead to dig in and fight to get back the spot. And that’s exactly what he did. He started all 13 games and was named second-team All-SEC by the Associated Press.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Wiesman has been under the radar practically his entire career. He was a two-star Cincinnati commitment before following Butch Jones to Tennessee and getting a late bump to three-star status, but that hardly turned him into a household name. He was the nation’s No. 1,046 overall prospect and No. 66 guard prospect and No. 62 overall prospect in Ohio in the 2013 industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The kid has become a really impressive OG, and will be starting in the NFL someday imo. Dylan is a Hoss

Robertson is a much better player when healthy. He is arguably the best player on the O-line

Definitely. He's one of the best in the country. Weisman went to the left side when Jones came in, and did good.

I was as shocked as Weisman was about that AllSEC award honestly. I think the snub for this season says a lot about that. It's all really weird. I never saw him as a real force on the OL. Just a serviceable SEC level player who works hard.
As was said above, Jack Jones may push him to start at RG this yr. Jones looks a bit more athletic imo.
Nevertheless glad to have DW.

Wiesman won't give up his starting role without a fight and will make all SEC once again this season, he's a really tough player

Last year we had ok run blockers and bad pass blockers. If we are going to win the SEC this year we need good run blockers and good pass blockers. Dobbs must have time to pass during a 2 minute situation and Hurd needs to be out of the backfield before he has to break a tackle. Butch loves starting experience on the O-line, but if that experience doesn't have SEC quickness then it doesn't work

Having Robertson back and having Richmond, a very capable pass blocker will help the whole of the OL greatly. Also, Hall has very long arms. I would say that we had good, to very good run blocking last year. Pass blocking will be much better this year.
