I keep hearing people on the radio here locally saying that they can't catch even though I hear they are quick as hell.

Anyone on here get to go watch some of the practices or scrimmages and see what kind of progress they're making to see whether thats true or not?

I know they're fast, I just wanna know are they making the catches in practice or during scrimmages?

I think that a rough summary would be (from watching scrimmage video and listening to discussion about practice/scrimmage):

The starting wideouts, Rogers and Taylor, have been pretty consistent in practices and scrimmages. Rogers has looked reliable.

I didn't see much footage of Hancock in scrimmages, but he somehow made his way to the two-deep. Briscoe looked like he was catching some nice passes in the scrimmage footage I saw.

As you likely know, of the new guys Denarius Moore is shining - quick AND catching the ball. Gerald Jones was showing some great skills, but an injured hamstring is really slowing him down. The coaches only had good things to say about him leading up to that injury.

The other newcomers are where the dropped balls really come in. Kenny O'Neal was not able to hang on to the ball and Brent Vinson found himself often out of position. There is a ton of speed there, but there were serious consistency issues.

There were whisperings that Coach Cutt's menuing system had led to huge improvements there - so we'll just have to see who takes the field at Cal. I don't think that we see Vinson, but I'm pretty sure that we'll see O'Neal. He is too much of a speedster to not give it a shot, especially if he is catching more balls with the reduced playbook.

I would be shocked if he did at Cal. The Bears have a lot of WR schemes set up to fully utilize D. Jackson. I think that the young CB will have enough to handle from a defensive mindset - I don't see anyway that the coaches add WR routes to his mind that night.
