I talked to friend of mine today that "Removes Animals" for a living. His advice for you is, trap it.

The trap he uses for opossums and racoons can be bought by you at TSC. Here is a link for the closet one to me. You can enter your zip for the closet to you. $30 seems cheap. If you have one, there is a good chance there are more.
