Anyone hear him on the radio today?

I found it interesting that he referred to our receivers as "a high character group". Is that kind of like being told your blind date has a great personality? :)

When asked about talent, he responded, "I think we have a chance" and then paused for a few seconds before admitting he would like to have a few bigger guys that could be possession receivers.

I think it's apparent that he's not thrilled with the group of receivers he has to work with. He mentioned Gerald Jones and Quinton Hancock by name and that was it aside from two newcomers...Nu'keese and Teague.

He talked briefly about their philosophy of having a mixture of receivers on the field -- bigger/taller guys on the outside and smaller/quicker guys inside. I like that strategy.

At the end of the interview, he was asked what one word best described Ed Orgeron. His answer? "Detailed". Not what I expected.

Detailed is a good answer IMO. It wasnt expected at all though. Yeah he seems to be a very smart guy. Your right he was just tryin to play nice when asked about the WR's. Fact is we are lacking in height right now at that position. The only person that seemed to excite him was Nuke.

It looks like D Moore has a chance to be a vertical threat for us, provided the QB can deliver it consistently...

I don't know if we have that bad of a WR core. Sure, most of the guys have not reached their potential, but I think we have some talent there to work with.

interesting interview...i dont care what his answers are as long as he gets production out of the boys

it has been several years since we've had a "go to guy" at receiver. should be exciting to watch recruiting this next year, there will be a big opportunity for a 2010 kid to really make a splash.

You wouldn't consider Robert Meachem a "go-to-guy" in 2006?

I don't think that anyone can argue that Frank Wilson knows recruiting and talent....in my opinion, the man can evaluate. He may be a good coach as well, and I hope he is, but his evaluation I tend to trust (though I don't have enough data points to do that without question). I hope that Paige can find a place among our current corps, though I think that he and Jones will be similar targets if Paige has the toughness and mass to be an effective target.

There could be some kind of case built for Lucas Taylor being a "go-to-guy" in 2007. He was obviously the guy who was getting the ball in his hands at a very high rate.

While the numbers are lower that Meachem's 2006 ones and many would be of the opinion that there talent compared is uneven in favor of Meachem, it's who Cutcliffe and Ainge went to that year.

I noticed that the rivals article made a point of noting that he has never coached wr's before.

I think 2007 showed that if you have a servicable qb he can make average receiver's look pretty good. We had the same guys last year that we had under ainge. It all starts with the man pulling the trigger.
I'm not worried about who we throw the ball to as much as who is doing the throwing.

That being said, it would be nice to have a receiver that teams have to double at times and pay more attention too. Were in trouble if they single up our receivers and send the rest to the football again this year.

What are ya implying Rex? Are you saying you think he may not be a good pick for WR's? Or just saying that rivals made sure to point out any negative he had?

We are obivously in serious need of a couple big receivers. I bet if EJAW had not screwed up, he would have been a big part of our offense. What a bone head!
