Wide receivers coach...

So your saying it’s the players not the coaching. Maybe people will start to understand this. I don’t think this is completely a WR problem I just think the roster as a whole isn’t where Pruitt is trying to get it yet. Still too young

Agreed. VN does this weird thing where we attempt to blame coaches who’ve been successful everywhere else. Tee seemed like a solid wr coach at USC. The idea that he forgot how to coach or is incompatible with Chaney is just nonsense.

We have 2 problems that are going to come back to haunt this staff. The biggest is their inability to recruit DBs. Even if you miss, you’ve got to swing. We should be signing 5 dbs a year right now.

The same thing happened at WR in this staffs first two classes. The difference is they at least partially corrected that by having an excellent wr class last year. But it’s tough to depend on freshmen.

This is valid for every position group. We are young. And the young guys who have played have played bc they earned it thru practice. The coach has to set the precedent of hard work earns PT not just talent alone.

It is probably a mix of both qb and receiver issues, but I think it mainly fell on qbs. How many do throws did they miss? How many open receivers did they just not see in their progressions, or just not going through progressions at all. Receivers could have been better, but they weren't the most talented or experienced group by any stretch. Palmer was the only player returning that had any production, so he always drew the best defensive player. Both groups need to improve, but I thought receivers were okay all things considered.

I’m encouraged by Bailey bc he goes thru his progressions. He can process route concepts and anticipate where the ball can meet the wr. Holding on too long is correctable and common in freshman. He understands moving defenders with his eyes.
I feel the same way. Sometimes I think he tries to put too much touch on the ball but that might be a good problem to have. He obviously has a very good arm.

Whole team had issues but there where a lot of replays showing Calloway, Jennings, and Palmer open and JG still had the ball in his hands. Jordan Rogers constantly talked about Jarrett not trusting what he was seeing.

so we’re going on what Jordan Rogers said..just because your on tv doesn’t mean you have a clue..if he was that good he would have won more games at candy and he would be playing on Saturday. The only reason he is on tv is because of his brother and his name

J.G couldn't hit simple throws I rewatched the Vandy game from this year and noticed just how well Bailey as a Fr. can hit throws J.G couldn't as a 5th year SR. If Bailey can have a good offseason and also a normal one then there may be hope for our offense. I think once he gets his rhythm down in this offense we could be really good if Chaney is aloud to open it up.
He also was the only one of the 3 to hit the WRs in stride

I don’t think there is any question that you have to practice well to play for Pruitt. (Unless he is desperate for a body). But many players are game day players and don’t show well in practice. I don’t expect Pruitt to change in this regard.

The guy played football in the SEC. Some of the most knowledgeable people were terrible players in their sport. No offense, but your take is stupid. Jordan Rogers knows more about football than we ever will.

Serious question and would like common sense insight please. Do you think our problem at QB is because our WR’s aren’t coached well? JG holding the ball too long And HB doing the same and both getting sacked. JT throwing picks because he doesn’t want to get sacked and forces a throw or two ( JG did as well). I get JG staring down receivers but maybe he was waiting for that small opening that maybe our WR would get open.
A new QB and QB coach will help alot. Alone with a new OL coach. Kiffin is at Ole Miss one year and they already are winning a bowl game. In year 3 of Pruitt UT is worse.

Calloway and Jennings made Guarantano look a LOT better than he actually was last season and it took our esteemed brain trust nearly a full season this year to figure it out.
That's what it appears, but in reality, Shrout had shoulder issues, Maurer was injured, and Bailey didn't get enough reps to be serviceable until late in the year, so we were stuck with JG as the only healthy and prepared QB we had.

I mean. Pruitt beat the same team last year in his 2nd year...
