With tennis balls. Trooper (like him or not) put him in the NFL. He said this was the turning point. He caught so many tennis ball, the football looked huge and like it was moving in slow motion.

That sounds like an excellent way to teach catching a football.

I think it's all mental, distractions, are like leaves on the ground, any one will do.

Go Vols!

I have a theory on that.
I'm glad we have Dobbs as our QB. I'm glad we have Dormy also, and that G-Money is on his way(get to work). This may sound harsh, but here goes. Dobbs has struggled with his accuracy, and the receivers have made some truely great catches due to some throws that were not on target, I'm not sure if it's Dobbs accuracy or if all the receivers run poor routes, that is a possibility, Dobbs rarely throws a duck, so the receivers are playing like DBs, not really sure where the ball will be thrown. So when a ball is on the numbers, it catches them by surprise, they relax for the easy catch, start thinking about the TD they are about to score(I know I would be, the way Terrence described it, sounded almost life changeing), lose focus and then drop an easy catch.

We need Peyton and Tee back, one as a QB coach and the other as reciever's coach. If there is no room on the staff, they can just Volunteer(if that is a NCAA violation, we need to do it legit).

Go Vols!

Peyton and Tee "can just Volunteer" :eek:lol: It would be good for Dormy and G-Money though.:ermm: Steaks are high.

Butch said it take 7 years to build an SEC team, is he overthinking this prolonged process or just buying time?

I thought he said 5 to 6 year's where we were at in talent it would take 5 year's to rebuild the depth and talent to compete every year, year 4 is 16 we will compete for the East and in 17 we should compete for a playoff spot.

Malone is a good receiver but he drops a pass in the critical part of a tight game nearly every time, like other night you couldn't handed the ball to him on the bomb and when you have a hard time as we do throwing the ball deep you just got to make that play there is no excuse to drop that ball.

Everyone knows by now that Dobbs long ball accuracy is not great.
I started thinking back and it dawned on me that our receivers have been dropping balls all season long.
Even when Dobbs hits them on the numbers, there have been many dropped balls.
I have been down on Dobbs concerning his long throws but, these receivers need to step up and give him some help.
What has happened to our receiving corps?.

We called those long passes so infrequently this season it'd be hard to be accurate. I can only think of a few we've tried. And we've converted on a couple of them. It's something we should be doing 5-7 times a game. If for nothing else just to try to keep the defense honest.

All you here is people talking about Dormady and JG coming in. We still have a better passer on the team and thats Sheriron Jones. He is a great passer that can run. Jason Swain even said hes a better passer than Dobbs. The QB situation is looking fantastic for the future.

It's was obvious to many of us that Butch was touting the WRU catch-phrase because he's trying to fill a void and stack the position for future QBs. Unfortunately, when our Vols (all of them) weren't able to capitalize on the winnable games early in the season, the apparent disparity between the WRU claim, and the on-field results, along with the fanbase backlash, may have negatively affected recruiting. I recognize this is sheer speculation on my part. But, something has changed . . . and not for the good.

For the first time since Butch came to UT, our Vols are barely hanging in the top 20 as currently listed on the top 3 recruiting sites. We're even being out recruited by by J. Franklin at Pitt.

You simply can't win in this conference without consistently strong recruitment, with WR being just one of the many positions that need an increase in depth and talent. I'm not sure how it gets turned around, but winning out (including a bowl win) will surely bring a lot of unarguable credibility back to Coach Jones and staff. I sincerely hope he and the team can glue themselves back together and finish the season in strong fashion.

Go Vols!
