Wide receiver discussion (merged)

No passing scheme with Debord. No QB that can pass. Dobbs should be a receiver or running back
Dobbs was tearing it up with the passing game last year, against S. Car, UK, and Iowa...with an OL that was just about the worst in all of college football.

They have a huge OL, that's 6'5" and 360lbs (Mosley)...can literally mash an average DT, but instead, we play the smaller and average talent, Weisman.

Butch's uber-conservative game management has made a miserable mess to sell to recruits, and he's going to see a mass exodus of all the WR talent, too. We might best just cut the cord after the season, and try again until we know we got it right.

"These great WRs dropped passes all day, also against OU. Learn football."

You are blind, you have to be targeted to drop a pass.

"No one can throw behind the current O-Line."

BS excuse. Quick release. 2-3 step and pass. We got as much pressure on them as they did us, if not more.

What game was you watching. We got little to no pressure with our D-Line and their D-Lin was on Hurd before Hurd could even get the hand off.

"Uh??? Did you not see the ball bounce off of Von Pearson's hands?"

Yeah I saw it. It was a 5 yard pass that was way behind him. He should have caught it, but it wasn't a good throw. Also, that was his SINGLE opportunity. That's right. One target.

So what - he will tear it up again this year vs those types of teams but never vs good fast defenses. He was lucky to come in at the end of the year last year when our schedule was soft - remember it was Worley who played against good defenses last year such as UF, OU, Ole Miss, and UGA. Out of really good defenses we played last year Dobbs only played well vs Bama - probably because they did not prepare for him since he was not supposed to play that game.

No, it was not behind him at all. Maybe slightly high, but it was a ball that should have been caught - not could have been caught.

The reason they were on Hurd? Easy, they knew he was getting the ball! It is not like we were going to actually throw it or anything. Linebackers, corners were up in our shiz all day cause we didn't keep them honest by throwing the ball!

Someone understands. Our O-Line cannot handle top defenses right now.

You cannot win a game being one deminsional--- well maybe a high school game or two but definitely not an sec game.

Just stfu. Malone and North 0 catches. Blanc, Hurd, Smith, Ellis, Jennings each had 1 catch for a total combined 29 yards. Dobbs had the most receiving yards on the team with 1 catch. Absolutely unexcusable. Totally pathetic.

No, they were on Hurd and Dobbs because our O-Line was like turnstiles. I feel for the O-Line. They are giving it their all, but the O-Line is bad. Calling them bad is probably giving them too much credit right now.

If he did catch it? So! that's a 5 yard pass! You think him catching a 5 yard pass in the 4th quarter would have changed play calls? We do not throw against decent teams, only teams we can blow out that aren't even in our division. Even then, we run it 90%

I agree with you. Calling pass plays when you can't pass block is not the answer though. You've got to figure out a way to give the QB some more time.

I'm speaking of the Von drop in the first half which would have been a first down.

I don't know how more simpler I can spell this out for you all. We do not pass. 8 men in the box, and corners blitz. If they know we are going to run, they will stop the run. It is predictable football. Our O Line isn't the best, but if you put them against 6 men, they are outnumbered.

Insert McKenzie. He's barely getting any playing time on the D-Line so why not put him in as a OT.
