The go SEC people do it so they can find a reason to pound their chest when other SEC teams win. It's a losers mentality. Screw Bama. I will watch because I love football but I will not cheer for either team.

Why? So another one of our rivals (as far as recruiting) can boast that they have a Natty? Pulling for bammer is the smart choice here

We recruit against both schools. There is one huge difference.... WE PLAY BAMA EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

I disagree with a lot of Vols fans on here about different things, but there is nothing worse than seeing someone rooting for alabama... tennessee's arch rival... to win a ****ing national championship. Its mind blowing. Their fans are already spreading far into our state, seeing A's on the back of cars, impressionable young kids growing up favoring bama b/c they are winning. Everything points against TENNESSSEE fans rooting for dumb*** alabama. GFTO.

I hate bama, but I hated every talking about how the SEC is down and their reign as the best conference is over because we didn't win. Bama winning just makes us whipping their ass that much sweeter next year

I can and I will. I will never root for an SEC team to lose an OOC game..period. Heck, I don't want any team we play to lose any game not played against UT. Maybe its the difference between actually understanding the game and only caring about winning water cooler arguments.

Most of the threads here railing against the machine are just that water cooler arguments instead of real arguments about football. Just like earlier in the season everyone was talking about how terrible Florida and Oklahoma were... How did their records end up? thats because most arguments are based on what someone heard someone say instead of actually looking at the teams. Florida was likely one idiot taking a shot in the butt away from the playoff's.

We are the SEC and other teams in this conference having success is actually good for us in the big picture. If Bama loses it hurts us in the long run badly because it fuels the SEC is not the best argument in the minds of recruits, scouts and the dummies arguing things they don't understand around the water cooler who just might have a kid we want to sign. If they win it hurts a lot less.. Yeah, it helps them on the recruiting front, but, honestly, even in the leanest of years, Bama does not have problems winning recruiting battles.

No. It doesn't. What is means is bama has yet another title.

We recruit against Bama too, for the real big time recruits. They are also a conference rival. Im not really scared of Clemson turning into a powerhouse. I think they fizzle out in a couple years....

And Alabama losing in a National Title game isn't going to change much of that. Clemson winning one will have a bigger impact as far as recruiting IMO

Maybe think about it with a little less emotion........Clemson winning one makes them stronger, while Alabama winning another one really doesn't change anything.

Not the reason I think Clemson winning tonight would be worse for us...........**** the rest of the SEC

I like Dabo, but from a recruiting standpoint, I want a blow-out by Bama. Kids already know Bama is a powerhouse so that does not affect UT's attractiveness to potential recruits, but a Clemson win signals a strong strep forward whereas they are a decent destination right now.

Sure it does. It add another scratch mark next to the title count and keeps them as the most dominant team in CFB....it strengthens/maintains their image. The downfall doesn't start if the banners keep going up.

Personally it doesn't matter to me who wins. Lost interest in the game entirely when the news broke about Bowie in the middle of the night.

Another deranged fan living vicariously through bamas success. How many recruits have we signed because bama won their 50th title? Do they say "You know what, bama won another natty, so I should sign with Tennessee!"

Downfall doesn't happen until they are beaten by the rest of the SEC, including us. Them losing tonight does nothing for us IMO.

I would agree with your point about strengthening Clemson - it's a valid argument - except if preventing that means ALA gets another then I'm out. Double edged sword so I'll take death by Dabo rather than Ole Lane holding up a trophy with a cheesy smile.
