To me, it's pretty simple. I'm an SEC Homer as much as anybody but I don't want to go through an entire Winter/Spring hearing Roll F$&@ing Tide.

Besides, why give a rival more ammo? We already know we play in the best conference...this game doesn't require an ALA win to validate that. So, if that reason is debunked, then tell me why it's ok to cheer for them.

I hope they lose 42 - 0 so I can watch Saban and Kiffin sulk on the post-game interviews for a couple weeks.

I'll admit this much...I hope they win every game but UT next year only so we can beat them twice!!! Go VOLS!

EDIT: the use of the term "CANNOT" in the title is used for argumentative purposes only and not me literally telling you what you can and cannot do. Didn't want some to take offense to my tyrant-like approach 😉.

Why? So another one of our rivals (as far as recruiting) can boast that they have a Natty? Pulling for bammer is the smart choice here

They get whoever they want anyways, and will until CNS leaves.

Clemson winning hurts us in recruiting. Big time.

It doesnt matter who anyone pulls for its not going to have an effect on the outcome of the game. I just want to see a good game tonight. Dont really care who wins, although I would prefer Clemson. Im tired of watching blowouts...

Heard in the break room today - " Yea I can't wait for the game tonight, I'm a bama fan, have been ever since they got rid of Richt. "

There was a time I used to see it that way. Not anymore. They have enough titles and I don't think that benefits UT one bit.

So you think Clemson (who we go head to head with in recruiting) winning a natty benefits us? Bama is already gonna get what they are going to get...you think on more title is going to worsen things?

Don't really agree that ALA winning makes kids want to come here. Win or lose tonight, it won't change how powerful they are in the eyes of HS kids...it will only add another banner.

We recruit against Bama too, for the real big time recruits. They are also a conference rival. Im not really scared of Clemson turning into a powerhouse. I think they fizzle out in a couple years....

I think the dynasty doesn't begin to fall as long as they keep hanging banners and get 6 months of unabated Sports Center.

We compete against both for recruits.

IMO the recruiting argument is a wash, we go head to head with both of them on a pretty regular basis. The only logic I can see in pulling for Bama is that maybe with one more, Nick will feel satisfied with his record and retire..

Clemson just flipped Hunter Johnson from us, and is actively pursuing Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers. but it's jmo

Clemson wins -- we see that stupid Swinney dancing -- Alabama wins -- we see the SEC N replay the game 100 or more times --- Not looking forward to either

It's only one more title to them, though.

Kids go to Alabama to get to the league and get coached by the best coach in CFB history, like it or not.

Listen, all this SEC stuff is way overrated! The SEC won like 7 in a row, and how much did that help Tennessee? None! You think Alabama would be pulling for us if we were playing in the championship? I'll answer that for you because I live in Alabama the answer is No! They do not pull for Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, or anyone else that has ever beat them! (You should have lived here when were were beating them every year and then they accused Phil Fulmer of getting them put on probation!) I can tell you they don't pull for any SEC team, so to heck with the SEC, I'm from Tennessee! My blood runs orange, it always has and always will! I WILL NOT pull for Alabama!

i'm all for SEC pride etc....

but Bama winning the NT at this point isn't about the SEC anymore, it's just Bama.

the SEC wouldn't have won 4 NT's in 7 years, Bama would've.

so at some point this is less about the SEC and more about Bama. and i'm against that.

so from one team in orange to another....Buck Fama. Go Tigers.

I'm just not sure I'm buying into Clemson flipping a kid from IN meaning they've overtaken ALA on our recruiting rivals list. The Tee Higgins point makes sense but do you think he's sitting at home contemplating Clemson but only if they win tonight?
