Why would they go to Washington for the same position?

You're out of your mind. It's a craphole. Crap weather, crap people, crap food, decent music and clubs, tho.

But Seattle is not 'awesome'.

NYC is awesome. Berlin is awesome. San Fransisco is awesome. Prague, Copenhagen, Nashville, Austin, Split, Budapest, these are some damned fine cities.

Seattle tho, is a shlthole.

Lol did you really just put Nashville in that list??

Its not like there getting promoted. Tennessee is way better then Washington and the fact that there going for the same position makes me think what is really going on behind close doors?

Because they know Dooley is a loser. Something that 2/3 of this board can't seem to digest.

it's always easier to get a job when you have a job. And they may not have had one after next year. I see it as they are just jumping off while they can.

Time for Mr. Hart to get out his short list and the checkbook. Next week will be the time to find a new coach who will be able to bring in a new staff. I don't see DD being able to replace these guys with all that's going on.

I personally know Sirmon did not like working for Dooley, pretty much thought he was an ass. I got the impression that Wilcox felt the same way.
I am starting to think Dooley may be acting like Saban but minus any real coaching ability. Imagine having to put up with a boss who thinks he knows it all, while in reality, he is clueless.

Does anyone know what his pay will be? I can't imagine that Washington would have the resources to outbid us if we wanted to keep him. I wasn't sold yet on Wilcox, but the fact that he would take at best a parallel job is troubling.

Also we are almost going to be forced to take a flier on a DC, because no high profile guy is going to coming here with all the Dooley rumors swirling.

This sucks.

was due to the fact that he saw a better opportunity at Washington. He knew Dooley wasnt going to last at UT and wanted to find a job with future stability. To me, this is the most telling event that has occured since Dooley has been hired. When coaches start leaving for similar positions it is a sign that things arent going so great within the program. I say fire Dooley now! Throw the house at a proven coach and get this organization moving in the right direction.

Jumped the shark. Sirmon was landing recruits right and left, and UT was ranked 28th in total defense for the year. Both are stars on the rise.

28th sounds good, but take out Montana, Buffalo, Cincinnati, MTSU where would that put us? Not to mention a sluggish Florida team, Vandy, and UK....our D wasn't that good overall

It's Hart's time. He needs to announce the new head coach next week after the NC game.

Just going to throw a wild prediction out there: You haven't read many of the threads on here have you? I mean it's not like you're repeating the same things that are being said in every other topic.

The only reason he left was the money.
It's a business.

You do know that Wilcox and Sirmon are both Pac Ten guys, right? It was only a matter of time before both of them went back west. I wouldn't read too much into it.

And firing Dooley before next season is the dumbest of dumb ideas.

i think everyone is wrong. Dooley is going to be successful. I think Wilcox left because he knew he couldnt cut it in the SEC week in week out. Washington just fired Holt who by all accounts was a great DC.

Facts:
1. If we had fired Wilcox we would owe him 1 million
2. Wilcox fielded the worst tackling UT Defense I have ever watched
3. We will hire a SEC Caliber DC.

To each his own. Would be a boring world if everyone liked the same things, and wanted to live in the same place (and pretty damn crowded too).

I believe they would have canned Chaney way before Wilcox after the season they had.

Uh, total speculation saying Dooley's future is short. Last I heard no one can tell the future. Maybe he wanted to be closer to his family. Ever think of that? Maybe he wanted to coach somewhere were the pressure to win immediately wasn't so intense. Unless you've talked directly to either coach everything else is pure speculation.

I'm not an expert, ut I no nobody takes a lateral move UNLESS they go to a coach in waiting type situation, they are given a hefty pay increase, or they are going from a not desired job like Vandy to a good job like Lsu or something. So this is not a good look for us no matter how you slice it.

I am glad that I do not have Dave Hart's job right now. Unless he can deliver a home run head coaching hire immediately, he's stuck in a no win situation.
