Why would a coach ever want to come here?!

Top 10 budget
top 10 facilities
Significant credit to go around for success
Low cost of living
Safe and wholesome campus (contrast to Miami or USC).
A head coach with good connections (Muschamp, Saban, Fisher etc.) who is happy to see assistants succeed and move up.

I would say there are lots of good reasons. You cannot have too large of an echo and you must be willing to put in absurd hours but you get to be a part of a staff that after this class will be a year away from top 15 talent all through the roster in the best conference in college football.

I keep hearing fans say fire Dooley but when I ask who do we get they can't give me an answer. I agree that no top notch coach is going to take the job at this time so we need to get behind coach Dooley and the players and fill Neyland and make our place a true home field advantage. I hate seeing thirty thousand empty seats I never thought I would see that in my lifetime. I realize why fans are not going but we need to fanup and show the team and the nation we support the Vols even in the bad times.

Very good points!!! I would also like to add we have one of if not the highest RECRUITING budget in the nation. It was the highest during the Fulmer years, not sure if it still is but if not I would think it is right up there in the TOP 5.

Dooley isn't bringing in top talent and he can't coach. He will be here for 12 more games and this chapter in TN history will be over.

Say what? I'm thinking Rivals, 247, etc. aren't buying what you are selling. We'll see about the last part of your first sentence soon enough, but the first part is just heresy.

A top coach is never worried about the state of the program where he might coach. He knows what needs to be done to revive a program and has the confidence necessary to get the job done. He would question and look hard at the schools administration, athletic director, overall facilities and their combined ability and willingness to draw top 10 recruits to the program. If all of those criteria were positive then you could get any coach you want if you pay the going rate. UT has been negative in some key areas and have not made any coaches offers they can't refuse.

Top 5 biggest stadium.

Top 5-6 in attendance at said stadium.

Top 10 winningest program of all time.

Top 10 in bowl appearances

One of only 2 teams not to have lost 8 games in a season. Etc, etc.
Top 10 budget
top 10 facilities

If ignorance is bliss, you must be orgasmic. Please keep your stupidity out of the recruiting forum. Thanks.

Not all "Bama" fans are real fans.

I live close to Knoxville and I've had good natured ribbing and some not so good experiences with Vol's fans. Overall I keep my smacktalk down to friendly, good natured jokes. No sense in kicking a man when he's down, it just makes you look like a tool and you may be buying new tires sooner then you thought.
In the past if I saw more then three people wearing Bama colors in a month, I was amazed, unless it was the third Saturday in October. Now it seems everywhere I look people are wearing Bama hats, Tee shirts, and jackets.

I met a "Bama" fan at Wal-Mart who's hat was almost new and in a loud voice he said he was a fan. We talked for a few minutes and I could tell he had no clue about the team. As I was leaving the store I saw him loading his groceries into his car that had a Power T on the back window and a 1998 National Champions license plate.

These "Bama" fans who I know a lot were former UT fans like to talk a lot of smack and there has been a couple of times fights with UT fans. I've always been, I feel a good sportsman, when ya'll win, I say: good game, we will get you next year and congratz on a well earned win. If we won I would say, Good Game, you almost had us (if you did, not going to be condescending) Next year, you may beat us.

Now because of these fair weather fans I'm a little more hesitant to wear my hat because I don't want to be seen as a trash talking fanboy. My wife suggested I get some of my retired hats out and wear them. I have a rack of retired Bama hats. I will wear one until my wife becomes embarrassed and says it looks "scrungy" and won't go out in public with me. She buys me a new hat and I retire my old one. Maybe I won't be mistaken for a "fair weather fan"

I hope that UT becomes the powerhouse it used to be and win. Ya'll can have these fans back, we don't want them!

Bless your hearts, you think middle of the pack in the SEC is building the talent pool. For the most part we are signing a bunch of kids that only Central Florida, Memphis, and maybe Ole Miss wants. Dooley will not compete for an SEC championship here until he continuely wins recruiting battles against the likes of Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc... Its gonna take more than one of those victories a year, he has got to start pulling many of those a year and he is showing no signs of that.

Nice post and as for the part in bold, that's just sad. I look forward to the days when the Tennessee/Bama rivalry is a heavyweight matchup again.

I would just like to add one more thing, I hate Bama. :)
