Why is Tennessee always the ones to get hammered on a very common practice in college football? In 1999, ESPN launched an investigation into tutors for the football players. They said tutors were writing papers and doing other things to "help" our players. Problem? This is a common practice in every major college in the country. Same as our hostesses. Every major college in the nation does the same thing. Hostesses are very "involved" at every major college in the nation. They are a major part of the recruiting process. Noone, even the NCAA, can tell me that hostesses aren't doing some "special" things for players at Alabama, Florida, USC, Ohio St. and so on and so on. I just simply don't understand why Tennessee is always the school to get drilled over such actions. Reggie Bush's family gets a 250,000 dollar house paid for by an agent while he was at USC, and the NCAA does nothing. Tennessee does something that may be a little shady, but a very ordinary practice in the world of college sports, and gets an investigation over it. Great job NCAA.

It's ok, I understand you may be getting pissy over nothing, but try reading other posts before spewing the same repetitive stuff. As far as your burn, try harder next time.

Also, do not forget the phone card scandel that UT was cited for and then about 50 other programs turned themselves in for doing the exact same thing and received no penalties.

One of the authors was just on ESPN stating that with the investigation going on so early means the NCAA is onto something. That the idea of hostesses travelling on their own is outrageous. He additionally said that Byrnes is a powerhouse so "To do what Tennessee did, exposed them to several teams to blow the whistle." So he has already determined that we are guilty and stupid.

What a d-bag for painting the story as case closed!

I like what Bhizzy said...how many of us have taken road trips to see prospects through no direction from UT?

I don't understand why you are here. You went to the SEC championship and got destroyed by a team we should've beat. Your superman quarterback cried like a little girl with the rest of gator nation. :cray: You are grasping for anything to make yourself feel better. Please go cry somewhere else.

Trying to find the positive...

Brandon Willis Father said that his son meet the Hostesses on his visit to Knoxville and that they told him they were going to come to 1 of his games.

Mr. Willis also stated that the University was not sending them that they were coming on their own...That will close the investigation real fast if we did not actually pay them to go. If they cannot find a money trail then there will be no punishment...

I know they were there to see Lattimore and he thought it was Crazy...He said no other school had done that....Now I understand it may be wrong but if we did something no other school did I think that would make that school stand out in my mind....

Kiffin is smart and sometimes you have to walk the tight rope to get to the other side....and when I say tight rope that could be the NCAA rules and Regulations...Sometimes Rules are made to bend a little...This is a business and not many on this board can tell me that the most successful people they know in thier lives have not pushed the rules a little to get where they are today.

As long as there are athletes, there will be "Cleat Chasers."

As far as using the hostesses, this practice has went on for years all throughout college sports.

If this does turn out to be an issue, we won't be the only ones.

How would the NCAA even know about this, did I miss something? Some coach (Meyer) must of made a phone call. What a joke for this to even be in the news.

+1000, the great recruiters always bend the rules. Saban does, Meyer does, Orgeron does, everyone who is worth a crap at recruiting will bend the rules.

Amen. These guys said they'd be cutting edge in recruiting. They'll take it to the brink. We may get the leash yanked back a little but who cares. Recruits know we're not f'n around.

2 seasons: fball season and recruiting season! All year long baby!

because right now at least, the people that represent your program aren't very endearing to the general college football watching public; at least not in recent memory. Kiffin, your AD, hell even being associated with Lil Wayne and Brian Butler don't help. Not saying it's all fair or even legitimate, but it is what it is. The more a program is covered, the more it is scrutinized. Some programs get it for winning (Florida), others for losing when they should be winning (ND/FSU) and some get it because their coaches bring it on themselves.

So, the general college football watching public is out to get us because we aren't endearing ourselves to them? Astute.

This post is as Charles Barkley would say... "Turrble"

This whole ordeal has the stench of an opposing program trying to stir feces.

It doesn't matter who the program has been associated with. Name me a school that has not used hostesses, and then name me a school who does not have Cleat Chasers following around sports teams.

That happens at NAIA schools, so you can bet your rectum it happens in the SEC.

But the easy thing to do is to blame the rapper.
