-This coaching staff went after Worley so hard for a reason. He was touted as an accurate and cerebral QB and if only half of that is true then he will perform better than Simms.

-Our defense should be good enough to hold their handicapped offense to a low scoring total that will give us a chance.

-Alshon Jeffery has not been the impact player that he was last year. He has been good, but he does not scare me like he did last seaspn.

-Worley may have a chip on his shoulder and this could be the perfect storm. He is going up against a USCe team that didn’t even bother recruiting him, what a great opportunity for him the put their fan base in a frenzy for not offering him.

-USCe plans on starting a kid who was once listed 5th on their depth chart at RB

-Our running game has responded well to the harsh criticism from the season beginning. We have been a few 3rd and short pass plays from points on the board against LSU and Bama

-Simms was just not able to get the ball to #21. He is difficult for anyone to defend and he opens up the offense immensely, hopefully Worley will be what gets him back on track

-Rod Wilks is going to see playing time for us…enough said right?

-I personally don’t believe teams play better off of a bye week. Teams are 3-9 coming off the bye in the NFL this year (not sure of the college stat) and Terry Fair adamantly believed the bye week hampered us in the 90s against Florida causing us to come out flat.

-Home game

-There are signs that out kicking game has turned a corner

Let’s hear some more guys…C’mon GBO!

Would be great, but didn't we hear that UGA and UF were also going into the win column? Nah....I'll skip predictions, and just support the kids as a fan should.

This goes in with the long line of "why we will beat" threads. The problem is that we never win these games.I cant wait to read the "why we didnt beat" thread on sunday.I am pulling for Worley but be realistic. He is a true freshman with no experience. He has alot of talent and I do believe that he will do great things at UT but can the sunshine pumpers stop with the unrealistic expectations.

I totally agree, this isn't a prediction thread per se, the thread title needed to be why we SHOULD beat South Carolina. I was just trying to be a little optimistic

I'm just happy to see the spread drop from +7 to +4 so quickly. Someone knows something that I don't, such as we're going to wear black jerseys on saturday, and that we're 1-0 ATS when we wear black jerseys?

No predictions, but we are starting a freshman QB up against a couple of monster pass rushers. Maybe they can be neutralized most of the time, but I won't put this in the win column yet.

As a Tennessee fan I have always been optimistic, but recently I have lost a little of that especially in the last few seasons. But I will say that I circled the South Carolina game on UT's schedule after the season started as a winnable game noticing South Carolina didn't look nearly as impressive as a season ago. Of course, that was before we lost Bray, and after we lost Hunter. Now with them lossing Lattimore for the season and playing a young QB in Connor Shaw it should be pretty even. I know they have a better defense than us and we're starting a true freshman Quarterback so its really a toss up. Also, about Alshon Jeffrey some of our talking heads on our local station here in Nashville The Zone namely Clay Travis spoke of the tall talented receiver. Clay said that Jeffrey had gained some weight in the offseason that might have slowed him just a bit. If I were UT I would put Prentiss Waggner on him all night with a safety covering over top. In case you didn't know CDD benched Teague and put moved Waggner from Safety to Teague's corner spot. And put Brian Randolph in Waggner's spot. And with regards of getting the ball to Da'Rick I think it is very important Tennessee keeps building momentum in the running game. If Poole gets going then USC has to honor the running game which will open up the passing game and Rogers. CDD said a few weeks back that Worley still wasn't making the deep throws that a SEC QB should be making so look for short dink and dunk. And bye weeks are what you make of them. In the NFL with the new CBA players are given more time off from scheduled practice. In College its totally different and good teams use this time to get better and healthy. Good luck and Go Vols!

One more.
Rivera has been so wide open the last two games it has been painful to watch. I think he now has someone in at QB that will look his direction and throw before 20 seconds have elapsed.
