We can’t pull the plug on Dooley at this point.

Several reasons:

1. I think it looks like he’s building something. If you think it’s not important to build a program versus a win now attitude, see Auburn.

2. He represents my university well and handles off field issues with the program in mind.

3. Recruiting -- This guy has been pissing up a rope with something to sell and is still getting good players. Does he need more, YES. He is a really good recruiter and if we can turn the corner, it will really take off. Not to mention that if you run off Dooley then more than likely great recruiters like Hinshaw and mainly Jay Graham go to(Graham was a stud as a player and even better as a coach).

4. Next year - Holy ****!!!! Talk about next year. Here is Dave Hart’s conversation with prospective coaches: “Coach, we would really like for you to come coach our team next year. We just had our best 6 players(Bray, Hunter, CP, Juwan James, Maurice Couch and Big Dan) go pro early. Plus you get to road trip to Eugene to play the Ducks, Gainesville to play the Gators and Tuscaloosa to play the Tide. For all that we want you to leave *****(insert any hot assistant because no current head coach would take these circumstances) to come to UT to coach for a passionate but unrealistic fan base who will give you a very short leash and $2.2 million. Sound good?” Coaches response, “Thanks but GFY”.

At this point, most of our good players will come back. Bray’s not ready, Patterson is a freak but he’s not really ready. Hunter isn’t ready either but he’s got a small child so even being a third rounder will help his situation. I think the other guys mentioned above do come back if there is no coaching chance. Dooley has us in the lead for the top running back in the country, leading for the #2 wide receiver in the country and leading for a home grown DB that is a difference maker. The 2014 class could be really special and expedite the building process but a new coach and new staff will have to build all new relationships with Akeem Copperwood, the Berry Brothers, Dylan Bates and Todd Kelly, Jr. which means it would be highly unlikely that we get any of them.

If Dooley is gone after this year, I think we take another step back and that’s not what anybody wants.

1. :eek:lol:

2. No one cares if he's not winning

3. Currently #23 ranked class and brought in the #25 ranked class next year, yeah... he's a great recruiter.

4. Reason it will get worse with Dooley, you have no idea about the $$$ situation.

I am sure Hart will call you for your opinion prior to making his decision.

You Dooley supporters need to provide fact instead of opinion. At this point I have not seen one valid point to support keeping him but many as to why he should be let go.

0-13 against ranked teams that is a tough sell to good recruits. If he was a decent coach he would find away to win at least one of them...he has yet to show he can do that. I don't think the next two games will be any different. Then look at how last season ended Vandy went to OT and UK beat us. Again that is tough to sell to good recruits.

Oh and if those 6 players you mentioned do go pro early, what gives you the impression Dooley will be able to coach a worse Vols team to wins against UF, UGA, Bama, USCe?

I really really really like Derek Dooley. he is an outstanding man. however, he is not capable of winning football games for the vols. he might have a little success at a mid-major or something. But he has to go at the end of this season.

This team has been in every game this year. All of our losses have been to ranked teams. These games last year would have been absolute blow outs. This team is improving year by year. Let's face reality. No big name coach is coming here. Gruden isn't giving up a gravy MNF job for us, Petrino is a 2-3 year coach, Tressel will have to serve a suspension if he comes back to college ball, Patterson has already shot us down once, & Stoops isn't leaving Oklahoma. If you fire Dooley, you set this program back another 5 years. And let's face reality, this fan base isn't patient enough to see this rebuild through. Do you really think that they'll sit through another rebuild?

We are taking a step back next year anyway. Don't try to blame a potential coaching change for that.

This post is wrong on so many levels. If he is given another year with next yrs schedule we will be lucky to win 6 then gets fired. You bring in the right Coach now, suffers through next yrs schedule and who knows maybe pulls an upset, something Dooley hasnt done. The sad part is we have many NFL talent guys, have our easiest schedule in yrs and we are 3-4 and will be 3-5 after next week. Thats 4the losses in a row and 5 out of 6. We arent showing any improvement.UK played GA better than we did and SC, who we play next beat the brakes off them. We are actually getting worse as the season goes along and I hate to see what Neyland looks like in November after next week and going winless in Oct with 2 double digit losses and most likely a beating coming Sat from a pissed off Spurrier and team.

As of now, none of those players you mentioned will go pro. Why? Because they AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Get rid of Dooley, and hire a damn WINNER.

The facts don't agree with your perception of our improvement vs last year.
Last year we lost by 10 to Florida, this year we lost by 17.
Last year we lost to UGA by 8, this year we lost by 7
Last year we lost to Bama by 31, this year we lost by 31

Yes Dooley is obviously building something. The improvement is staggering.

We should keep coach Graham and Pittman and McKeefery(sp?) and the rest can be shown the door.
