Why wasn't Cody flagged for removing his helmet?

i m just hopin we dont have to rely on wildcat too much.
Its a good change of pace, but we need to get our passing game going.

McElroy will be ok. But thats a nice fall back plan. You got 2 good RBs to run it, plus Jones.

Still trying to figure why Saban did not run it more in the 2nd half. We held pretty tight when McElroy was in the game, but that wilcat gaves us fits.

well thats wat everyone in Alabama want to get a answer on.
we drive all the way to the 4yard line with the wildcat and its 2nd & 2, and we freakin throw the ball on 2 & 3 down.
ooh well at-least it didn't cost us the game, cause that was just stupid.

I was happy everytime ya'll threw the ball. We had a chance as long as ya'll put it up. The less Bama run, the better chance we had.

Bama is still the best team in the country right now. IMO.
UF/Bama will be a great game.

Saban knew we had y'all. To be honest Tennessee was never really in the game. We played terrible in the last 3 minutes and allowed that game to look like it was a close game. We were in total control of that game until the fumble and then we had problems but our team stepped up and took care of business.

We will win in Knoxville next year to. Alabama will be a better football team next year than they are this year. A lot better!

to me its Florida, Texas and then bama.
i had bama at the top, but after seeing the offense fall apart in the last 3weeks i m not sure.
we will know more next week when we play LSU.

p.s. - last week's game was one of the classics, and hopefully many more to follow

Bama ain't goin nowhere, UT has to catch up to them.

This staff has proven they can coach an underdog, be interesting to see what they can do with more talent, and depth.

This series will be interesting in the future. Gonna look like more like the old days, when both where in the picture.

34 pages later Cody has still blocked his second field goal and the score stays the same.

We can't help that you don't have the sense to change your posts per page.

Had Coleman been starting, however, we probably wouldn't even know that about you. These debates wouldn't exist after a blowout good guy W.

u just dont need a better field goal kicker, u need a better team

No, if he makes just one of those 3 missed kicks, you all are crying all night Saturday. You surely wouldn't be here running your mouth over beating an unranked, easy UT team. If we need a better team, why couldn't your team score a touchdown on us?
But no, 2 of our kicks go 5 ft. off the ground and land in Cody's man-tit cleavage and as a result, we handed you the game.

When the other team outgains you by nearly 100 yards (341-256), it's a little dishonest to say they were "never really in the game". UT missed 3 field goals, and any of them would have been the winning points in the end....

Also, you don't have "total control" of any game where the only points you can muster are 4 field goals...

Shouldn't the question be "Why didn't the special teams coach make sure Cody wouldn't get his 2nd blocked field goal?"

Alabama sues officials.
The University Of Alabama filed suit today against the SEC and it's officials. In the suit UA representatives stated that SEC officials were in 'breach of contract". UA representatives were disappointed in the performance of there employees due to several close games this season. Also mentioned in the suit was the fact UA was actually allowed to have several "mediocre" seasons which in the terms of the agreement were deemed unacceptable.
In other news. Due to the overwhelming of evidence of an SEC conspiracy involving Florida and Alabama all the other SEC institutions have decided not to play next season. UF and UA will play in the championship game in Dec of 2010...11....12.

PLEASE!!

Waaahh!!!
Had the shoe been on the other foot and Bama had been kicking the FG in Neyland, and the same scenario had happened against the Bama, any Vols fan visiting a Bama board posting this type of garbage tripe the poster would be swiftly banned. That is if he was able to pass the registration gauntlet. Take your ridiculous arse back to your Bama board and report how even though you behaved like a classless bum, you were entitled to your opinion even it wasn't a shining endorsement of the board's popular opinion. This is Volnation and yes we are better than you...proved it on the field and prove it on this board almost daily.

UT outplayed bama, but got hosed by the refs and missed easy field goals---the only reasons they lost.

I guess as I read that, I think if the SEC had responded the other way, Mandell would have gone that way too? Seems like an interpretation issue. (Unless the rules SPECIFICALLY say that when time expires, there's no "next play"). If the rulebook doesn't say that, then it's absolutely about interpretation. i.e., if you score a touchdown at the end of a game with time expired (sans overtime), you still get to kick the extra point.

Anywho - no press is bad press, and I promise you that anyone who's been on the ass of a bad call/no call in a similar situation sides with Kiffin and the other SEC coaches.

If Mandell doesn't think Kiffin knows the rules of football, I suppose he thinks he would be a better coach? I love how journalists always think themselves above or better than just because they get to sit at a computer and vomit opinions all day.

I know that the SEC gave its "interpretation" which basically covered for the decision on the field but since when can a game end on a defensive penalty? I think Mandel needs to learn a little more football himself.

But that call I can almost understand. In the excitement of the game ending play, it might have been confusing... I don't know.

However, the missed interference, holding, and off sides calls were much less a matter of debate.

I read that article earlier today and responded to Stewart Mandell with a little message of my own telling him what he could do with his opinion of Lane Kiffin (sideways).

Don't know why, but the Weekly Pick 'em link does not appear at the top of the page when I log in. Is there some other way to get my picks in?

When he first posted the article it actually stated that Cody took his helmet off after the play (and thus after the game, then no penalty) but he changed the wording pretty quickly. It was a strange line of thinking b/c he essentially bought the SEC explanation that there was no penalty hook line and sinker but then referenced an article by Staples who stated it was a penalty but it shouldn't have affected anything (which I think is the correct interpretation).

He then took a stupid jab at Kiffin not knowing any of the rules. Well, 4 days ago CLK took an under-manned UT squad on the road against the #1 team in the country and lost in the final seconds of the game. Let's complain that he doesn't know the rules.

The other thing with sportwriters ragging on coaches not knowing the rules is how many of the sportswriters would know that rule if they hadn't looked it up? Coaches are pretty busy during the game so they probably don't bust out a rulebook prior to meeting with the press.
