Why was Donald Trump the Correct Person for President?

The only non-politician choice enhanced by the fact he paid most of his campaign expenses out of his pocket. He knows you must hire the best to be the best, can't be done alone. Complete wild card as far as how he will run the office which is good for all involved, no more business as usual in Washington. The press will now start doing their job of watching the federal government for oversight which they failed to do the last 8 years. A move back in the direction of balancing the budget or at least attempting to create a budget and move against the trade deficit.

This thread is stupid. The OP asks to hear why others voted for trump "just so he can understand his fellow Southerners"... Then spends the entire time debating and trying to dump on their reasons for voting for him.

OP has no desire at all to understand. It's all a platform to say what he wants said as opposed to listening to others.

Just so everyone understands why I said the above, go count for yourself. As the OP says that he just wants to hear/understand why his fellow southerners voted for Trump (while defining how they can answer, mind you), 9 of the first 27 posts in the thread (1 in 3) is the OP debating, arguing or "correcting" the responses.

Hint to the OP and left: Learn to listen. You'll actually get smarter than talking all the time.

Yeah, I quit reading after the 3rd post where it promised to be an inane thread

Does someone with such a lack of experience in this field not also offer the legitimate possibility of colossal and far-reaching failure?

And what was it about his eyes that made him the right person? Was it just that he was running? Or was he the person getting your vote no matter who else was in the GOP primaries?

I see people refer to lack of experience a lot with regard to Trump, but never with Obama.

Who knows if he's the right person? He was attractive to a lot of voters because he showed some guts during a "safe space" politically correct wussy era. He ran as a R, but even had them trying to tear him down. Trump was/is a big middle finger to the current cesspool of Washington politics.

I think a lot of people were drawn to Trump because of his willingness to insult people with juvenile names like Cletus. That appeals to a much larger segment of the undereducated white male blue collar block than anyone realized.

Poor little liberal crybaby Luther..... I hope you enjoy Trump's presidency as much as I have Obama's.

I hope it's not just me that sees the irony in Carl's post.
"Poor little liberal crybaby"....really...are you 12?
The immature insults you guys throw around speak volumes.

I hope my fear and concern over the next four years turns out to be as misguided and unjustified as yours did. So I guess we're in agreement

I think that you, Crusse, Hillary, Obama, and the Democratic Party share the same problem. You don't associate with the average guy in the street, and instead look down your nose at them. You don't understand why Trump won, because you are elitists in attitude, whether or not you have the money to be one in action.
And Trump associates with the average guy on the street? Hahaha. Funny

Don't mention opponents. I'm not asking for you to pivot this to hating his opponents. I want to know why those who voted for Trump think he was the correct person to run the USA.

Again. I don't care why you think other people shouldn't be president. You can make those comments all over the Politics forum.

Why was Donald Trump the correct person?

You might as well ask: "why was Butch Jones the Correct Person to win championships at Tennessee?"

We just don't know yet. But I will say, that Trump, imo, was the only person with the backbone needed to sustain and beat the democrat/hillary attack machine. Romney, Bush III and those guys could never have done it.

Now on to seeing how he can run it.

He knows how to speak the language of the average guy, and he didn't call them deplorables. Hillary did, and she lost.

He called them stupid. He was right. He just said enough xenophobic and racists things that some liked. Then he said a bunch of big vague promises that got his other half of voters who aren't racist, just dumb. No details for any of his big plans. No plan on how to pay for any of it.
