Don't mention opponents. I'm not asking for you to pivot this to hating his opponents. I want to know why those who voted for Trump think he was the correct person to run the USA.

Again. I don't care why you think other people shouldn't be president. You can make those comments all over the Politics forum.

Why was Donald Trump the correct person?

Neither was literally every other GOP candidate

True. Honestly, I think he just offered Americans a step away from the corruptness that's engulfed our capital. I'm sure he's not without moral flaw, but it was a no brainer imo...

Because he offered the only chance at getting a fresh set of eyes on the problems confronting the country. The same 2 party regulars have been doing the same things forever with diminishing returns.

Whether or not he can affect positive change, I don't really know yet, but he offers that possibility. Nobody else did.

But does any of your reasoning have anything at all to do with what he can accomplish? Or what he's willing to accomplish?

Or is it strictly because he's different? Because there were 2 other GOP outsiders as well.

I legitimately want to know what about Donald Trump drew so many southerners to him. It doesn't add up to me, but I clearly am not thinking like those voters. So the only way I can find out is by asking

Does someone with such a lack of experience in this field not also offer the legitimate possibility of colossal and far-reaching failure?

And what was it about his eyes that made him the right person? Was it just that he was running? Or was he the person getting your vote no matter who else was in the GOP primaries?

After eight years of a community organizer you dare bring up experience?

His eyes have seen business success and failure. He knows what it takes for a business to be profitable. He has worked making money, instead of just learning about business and theorizing in a classroom.
I would rather have someone who understands success from actually producing something, instead of getting paid to be a bureaucrat all of their life.

Of course, failure is a possibility with Trump, as with anyone. However, I think that he has surrounded himself with good people in the past, or he would not have achieved any successes.

As far as getting my vote, I didn't vote for Trump in the primary. My support came after Ted Cruz dropped out. I personally did not like Cruz, but thought he offered a chance for something different, because he is an outcast in his party.

No. I mean the people nearest to me. That's why I'm not on a Bucky or Hawkeye or Sparty board asking this question

Either you didn't follow his campaign or you're incapable of seeing the damage that has been inflicted upon this country the last eight years. Four words Cletus " Make America great again "

What do you predict will be his greatest success in the next four years?

That, like many other comments he made, was just a catchphrase with no substance backing it, in my opinion. Just like locking up Hillary and draining the swamp, which he's already backtracked. Any catchphrase Trump used, in my opinion, is as worthless as Monopoly money. He always avoided saying how he would accomplish things by instead saying "believe me, I will"

I think a lot of people were drawn to Trump because of his willingness to insult people with juvenile names like Cletus. That appeals to a much larger segment of the undereducated white male blue collar block than anyone realized.

I feel pretty sure that he doesn't have a total plan in mind yet. He probably figured that he would surround himself with successful people and brainstorm how to attack the problems. That is what successful business people do.

I think that you, Crusse, Hillary, Obama, and the Democratic Party share the same problem. You don't associate with the average guy in the street, and instead look down your nose at them. You don't understand why Trump won, because you are elitists in attitude, whether or not you have the money to be one in action.

He's trolling Alex, he knows good and damn well what's in store, look at how the markets are reacting.

He may be, but I'm giving my honest opinion. I know that Trump's win surprised neither one of us. Those guys live in an alternate universe.
