1) It appears that atleast 10 TRUE Freshman get quite a bit of playing time, as Kiffin promised.

2) Since, UT has 16 commits. The coaching staff will bring in primarily 4 and 5 stars for the remaining 8. TRUE Freshman getting the playing time will help in having a few decommit from other schools and commit to UT!!! =)

3) Parents will want their son to come play for a DISCIPLINED program that minimizes off the field incidents and maximizes their chances of making it to the next level due to lots of prior NFL experience.

4) This coaching staff will not fall short like the prior one in ' COACHING THE PLAYERS UP '. The media will talk about it. The parents of top recruits and top recruits will hear it and see it!

5) UT is second to none in facilities!

6) This coaching staff will work harder than any other in the country and have the persistency no other has to achieve their goal !

7) We will win atleast 9 games including a bowl win! :)

Barkley being named the starter at USC should take them out of the running for top QBs in this class.

I agree. There is almost no chance that a 2010 QB would displace Barkley next year. Also, a 2010 QB would be looking at a red shirt year, or burning a year as the mop-up QB.

Now if we can just get a QB in the barn...

Barkley starting only hurts with Scroggins. Bray is a four star as well and has out preformed Scroggins at Camp after Camp. I like Bray.

The top 5 thing isn't going to happen. I do think we end up about the same place we did last year. Top 10.

Agree with all but #7....unfortunately, dont think 9 wins is very probable. Good points on 1-6 though, need some top recruiting classes over the next few years.:good!:

Very good post and very accurate I just hope #7 is fulfilled that would def set off a TOP 5 class. Talk about the future of UT FOOTBALL!!! Getting excited just thinking about it. I love actually being excited in the offseason now.

We probably won't get a 4-5 star running back with the current freshman and the top QB's seem to be out of play (I do think we get Bray). Maybe we get another 4-5star @WR. I think we could see a move up the rankings with some big O-line prospects. But I believe we need to get to 9 wins and look like we know what we are doing on O and maybe some of our competition look bad to get them in here. It seems like we will get our share of the D guys that we want on Monte's name alone. The D guys alone will move us up. Ranking won't mean much unless we get our O-line prospects that we want. We got to protect our QB and open some holes. I hope you are right though.

Maybe top 5, but another top 10---which is fine; since recruiting isn't an exact science and is relative to your needs and how you "coach em up". AND don't forget about those 3 stars that become All Americans, and 5 stars that don't pan out. It does happen. :)

What is going on with the QB situation? Any chance Scroggins decommits with Barkley being named the starter? I dont see why UT shouldnt have a top 5 class.

Dyer is very interested in us and we get him I think. So there is your 4* RB. Seastrunk is probably LSU bound, but we were even in the conversation with him. You are not correct if you think that 1 stud RB this year will not look at Bryce Brown starring as a freshman, see Hardesty leaving and think that they want to get into that backfield rotation. None of them will be scared off by Poole or the Milton RB even though maybe they should be.

For OL prospects James Stone is the hardest to figure out, but we have a very good chance with him. We also could well end up with TJ Leifheit and Damien Robinson. Zac Tait and Chuckie Curry (JUCO lean to MS State) are also strong possibilities if things do not work out with the first three.

Demarco Cobbs completes what will be seen in 2 years I think even without Prater, the best WR group in this years college football recruiting.

Bray will be a 4 star and will be our QB commit, barring craziness (Scroggins turning because he does not want to sit for 3 years).

Dietrich Riley is coming thanks to Cregg and Orgeron and will try to become the next E Berry.

Good chance we also get Josh Shirley at LB, George Uko at DT and possibly even Ronald Powell at DE. That is 4 star and 5 star talent, all from CA heading east because of our coaches.

Brandon Willis will probably follow his teammate Corey Miller to FSU, and Lamarcus Joyner will probably be a Seminole as well, but some of that has to depend on their season and ours. Jeff Luc is also giving us an official which is huge.

Ego Ferguson is very interested in us still and we have a good shot with him. Powell, Ferguson, J Smith, we could have Sean Ellis, Leonard Little type talent rushing off the DE slot again.

So....I think we get the OL,

I think we are in the conversation against USC for California talent and against FSU for Florida talent and that shows how far we have come very quickly. Depending on how we play in the UCLA game, and how FSU's season goes, I could see us with a top 5 class and perhaps even asking a few individuals currently committed to look elsewhere (something no one is talking about). We have guys like Jose Jose who the coaches feel great about as a high potential gem (which is one of Orgeron's main prides identifying those) but we could get to the point very soon after a 9 win season when Ed O is looking at which 4 stars are going to be better and which will flame out.

We are already demonstrating an incredible ability to recruit California, Illinois, Florida etc.

No one on the recruiting side is talking about the big finish. A Janzen Jackson level get for this staff would be someone like Demarcus Milliner moving over from Bama. A Nu'keese Richardson change from UF again? A Bryce Brown?

This staff is being speculated as bringing in an absurdly great class at this point way before we have even played a great season. Wait until January and we can all poll our sources (which for almost everyone here is actually pay sites or 1 or 2 former players who have not darkened the door this year at the football office) and try to deduce what the shock will be. I think each year with the types of recruiters on this staff that we will have some headlines NSD or a bit after.

I like Bray as well. I have a pretty good feeling about Bray. It's obvious and he knows that he got antsy and jumped at the first offer that came. Gotta think that once he gets on campus he won't be able to say no. I don't care if we've been down, SDSU just can't stack up with what we've got(capt. obvious:eek:lol:), and this new staff has breathed new life into the program and fan base that I don't think he'll be able to ignore.

Demetrius Wright Rivals #9 CB and another stud CA talent is coming for an official Demetrius Wright - Yahoo! Sports
and Toney Hurd Jr. is coming for a visit according to a VN article today
Toney Hurd Jr. - Yahoo! Sports
And Gerald is trying to get his little brother Cody to still look at the Vols
Cody Riggs - Yahoo! Sports

I have to think our final DB board looks a bit like this:
Lamarcus Joyner
Cody Riggs
Demetrius Wright
Keion Payne
Dale Trimble
Toney Hurd Jr.

I also think the staff is still evaluating throughout this season to look at their senior tapes and press harder or less hard. Joyner is probably headed to FSU as I said before but we will pair a stud DB with Riley and we will have sick talent behind the great deep young secondary guys we already have.

How is Bray about staying out west? It is weird that he would be committed to SDSU at this point if he thought that he had the ability that everyone else seems to think that he has. Maybe it was early playing time and not home cookin.

You left off Shaw who could be our #1 CB left on the board. I personally don't think I would take a CB unless it was Milliner, Joyner, Shaw, or Fulton. A superstar. We have alot more needs in other areas.

Same goes with RB's. When you get Williams back you will have Brown, Oku, Poole, and Williams. Take one out of Dyer or Seastrunk if you can land them. But if not get some Linemen an extra LB or WR. There are going to be plenty of RB's next year. Like Hill and Hillard.

Shaw shoots up the rankings

Quote:
"Some guys, like Kyle Prater, aren't cocky at all," said Shaw. "I had a good talk with him. He came up to me after the whole event was over and congratulated me. He said I was the best corner he's faced, which was real humble.

"He said he wants to go to a school where he has competition at the corner position. The competition will only make him better, is what he said. We exchanged numbers and stuff. He's one of the good guys because he's humble and only wants to get better."

Sabanocchio posted that a while back. I thought Shaw was an OSU lock but I guess I am wrong. We do not have an official from him, but he said he is definitely coming to visit. We need Earps on this man.

Riley, Powell, Shaw, Uko, Shirley, Bray.

Will California be the most important state for UT this year recruiting wise? Will it help any of these guys coming in with CA JUCOs also to know that we have so many west coasters in one class? Will Cregg get any of the credit?

Bray is like Shaw from above. End of his junior year he was on no ones board very high at all. Then he goes to camps and dominates again and again and shoots up the rankings. Lots of people said he looked better than Scroggins.

We need someone to get the ball rolling with these kids from Cal. Bray may be the one. I think we have a good shot at Bray, Riley, and Shirley. That would be a heck of a pull from the west coast.

I think we finish second or third with the others. But Cregg can make a believer out of a lot of people if he can get three or four of these kids. USC can't take them all plus he has the USC angle to sell here at Tennessee now. So that helps.

I think FL will be our most important State but I wouldn't mind if California delivered.

i pray your right mikehamiltonfan and we get riley, george uko,and ronald powell, and i really want to land james stone him being an instate player and having idea size ,im tired of all the best tennessee prospects going to alabama or elsewhere, there are also a couple 2 to4 ,4 and 5 star olineman who are looking at us with great size 6-5 330 and all of them are around that size,we dont need another rb this class,we get rb next year, cobbs and prater would be good ,cobbs is a lock prater needs some work

maybe i'm wrong, but didn't coach fulmer get his share of top 5 classes (which seemed to disappear once on campus)?

I agree with the original post about why recruits should want to come to play for the Vols; however I don't think we will have a top 5 class this year. Probably in the 6-10 range.
