Why the Vols should worry

Arkansas torched SC with 520 rushing yards. That dropped SC to 11th in the SEC in rushing defense. The Vols are 9th. In the last 21 Arkansas games, only two teams have stopped D-mac and jones. That was Florida in last year's sec title game and Auburn three weeks ago.

Unless the Vols show up with a defensive stand like a Tuberville team or LSU, it will be a long day at Neyland. Considering the Vols played dead like a possum aganist SC in the second half of that game and almost blew it, I'm not confident they can stop the Hog running attack.

Better hope for turnovers.

Come to think of it, the Hogs defense isnt really anything to crow about either...

I'm not saying we shut down Ark's backs, I'm just saying dont come in here and talk tough like you know what beating Tennessee is all about. You've beaten us one time in like 15 years.

This game is at Neyland stadium dude. Better recognize.

To the OP:

I can't really argue with that. I hope our offense does it's part to keep Mac-Jones off the field and our D does enough to force Dick to pass some.

With Arkansas' defensive performances this year I would expect a high scoring game for both teams.

Arkansas better score every time, because that defense of there's is just as bad as UT's. Oh, and the last time I checked coach Houston Nutt has never won in Knoxville.

one hog fan shows up hoping we win to ax the coach, another shows up boasting about beating SC and how that will translate in to a big win for them.

One thing that has been bothering me about the Arky Fans thus far is they are acting like this is what they've been doing all year.

GET OVER Yourselves... If you were able to do THAT performance game in game out you would be Undefeated.

You had A Good game, we give you that, but don't come over here acting that LAST weekend was what Arkansas football is all about because you fail to show it week in and week out.

Have a Good Saturday and please come back and visit.

OH, and FYI there PORKY! Tennessee doesn't have To STOP your Rushing game, we only have to slow it up a tad. Just long enough for EA to put some TD's on your Sorry One dimensional team.

I wouldn't say Arkansas defense is bad. They have 22 takeaways compared to our 15. They are ahead of us in nearly every defensive category. It is easy to say that their D is better than ours is.

You lost to Alabama and Rushed for 301 Yards, You lost to Kentucky and Rushed for 338 Yards. Those TWO Games alone total yardage of Passing you gained 306 yards… TOTAL.

So just because you Rush for 300 yards, doesn’t mean you’re going to win the ball game. One thing I noticed in the stats. When you can’t get a Passing game going, you can’t win unless you Rush for 500+ yards. So, as I said earlier, we don’t have to STOP the Rushing game, we only have to slow it down.

the way i see it is when UT has the ball, its going to be a mediocre offense matching up with a mediocre defense. when arkansas has the ball, its going to be....,oh well, you can see where i'm going.

Total Offense:
Arkansas: 473 ypg (12th nationally)
Tennessee 411 ypg (37th nationally)

Total Defense:
Arkansas: 345 ypg (37th nationally)
Tennessee 412 ypg (80th nationally)

Two good offenses going against two poor-to-mediocre defenses. This one has shoot-out written all over it. But you never know. Sometimes we get surprised.

It doesn’t take too much research to see that Arkansas has zero passing game and they also cannot defend the pass.
Our Defense may not be as good as in the past but I DO believe we have a defense that can cover their sorry passing attack.

With that said, all we have to do is FOCUS on slowing down the Rushing attack. We do those TWO Things and we win this and it may not be as close of a game as everyone thinks.
Let Arkansas get down 21 points and see how fast NUTT JOB changes his scheme of things.

The only game you can go back and look at to see how someone stopped PORKY PIGS Rushing attack is to go back to the Auburn game where they held McFadden to 43 Yards Rushing and Jones to 42 Yards.

I don’t think, as I’ve said before, that I’m smarter than the UT coaching staff, so I feel comfortable that they will look at some of this tape.

As I’ve said many many times this week, we don’t have to stop the Piglets Rushing Attack, just slow it down and give them a few 3 and outs and we’ll be in the Checkerboards a few times.

This is not a good matchup for us.

We're going to get shredded on defense similar to last year I expect. Fortunately their crowd won't be behind them and we won't have an inexperienced QB playing... well I hope not anyway.

Still, I can't see us preventing Ark from getting less than 28 points. Question is, can we win the turnover battle and get 30+ points on the board ourselves.

McFadden is a stud. Period. He will get his yards. We just have to be sure the first defender that gets there does more than just lowers his shoulder on him. Grab the guy, hang on, and the crowd will get him on the ground. Eliminate the huge gains.
Also, I would like to see some statistical data on how UT has fared in the past with "Big Name" backs. Guys like Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Cadillac Williams, Shaun Alexander, etc. Do we get up for the guy or does he kill us?
