Why is everyone speculating that Auburn will have a great year this year? They have two new coordinators coming into this season, and I just don't understand the worry.

Well one their QB Burns is an absolute stud, and secondly their defence looks amazing on paper.

Well, they changed OC's in 2004 and went undefeated... :ermm:

The last time Auburn hired a new OC they went undefeated his first season. I think the hype around Auburn shows the kind of respect Tubberville warrants when he hires assistants. The lack of hype for Clawson and company shows what kind of reputation letting Randy Sanders suck it up for seven years gets you.

Lets just see what they look lik eon the field, not saying they won't be good b/c Auburn usually has one of the better defenses in the nation.

Auburn is just going to have to make a believer out of me. Burns, while a fine athlete, does not scare me as a quarterback. I think Dave Clawson will mismatch Auburn's defense to death, they'll never know what hit them.

Outside of USC, how many times has Auburn really been outclassed?

I think it is a combination of Tubberville (pretty good coach who does not seem to lose cool when heat is on), a new OC with the dreaded SPREAD O, and the fact that Auburn gets their fair share of good football players.

I'm just curious how much longer Alabama is willing to give Nick Saban if he fails to beat Auburn this year or next year?

I know one reason is that their OC lit up a few SEC defenses last season with a Sun Belt team.

Well...They have an extremely talented team. Their QB is set to run the spread in a league that isn't fully prepared to stop the spread.

Look no further then Fulmer's record against Auburn with Tuberville.

On paper this is game no one will expect Tennessee to win.

That and the homefield advantage explains why they should be favored over UT, but doesn't explain their national hype. The fact is, I don't see them as a top 10 team right now based on their ?s, but most other teams in the country have just as big of ?s so they got in by default.

One more year before they have a public hanging.

I don't know, I'm in Huntsville and still haven't heard a 'Bama fan badmouthing Saban yet. I think if Auburn wins this year, for 7 in a row, next year will be the make or break season.

BTW, back on topic... I too think that Auburn is a little over-hyped this year. Sure, Tubberville is one of the class coaches in the SEC, but with a new DC, a new OC, two brand new schemes, I think, no matter how it looks on parper, they will have their share of problems. I just hope we can get up for the game coming off the Gay-tors the week before.

I have to admit I don't like the guy but TT is the best game prep coach in the conference. Not much for adjustments on the fly but he is great at developing a game plan. Auburn had no business beating UF last year but Tubb had a picture perfect game plan and did so with an average QB.

I think some of it is due to there being no clear frontrunner in the West. LSU losing Perriloux did a lot of damage to their preseason hype. Alabama isn't proven. Arkansas lost pretty much every weapon they had. Miss St is looking up, but not a force to be feared. And Ole Miss isn't going to win it. With the right breaks Auburn could go undefeated in the West if, and that's a big if, their staff hires work out and the team picks it up quickly.

That would be Tony Franklin who at Troy last year put a beat down on Ok. St. with basically D1-AA talent
