already giving up on this season? Granted, after Saturday's performance and the events that transpired, doesn't leave a positive impression for this team. But let's see how this thing plays out, those young men may just surprise everyone.

We all knew Tennessee had a long road back to be a legit contender, so quit your whining and don't be so quick to think this year is a wash.

That is all, rant over.

GO VOLS !!!

I am not giving up on this season at all, I think the mood of the fans is just disappointment that comes from losing a big game that we couldve won and losing a star player that is irreplaceable. It's like a bad hangover and the only cure is a big win against a team we arent supposed to beat. That's something we havent experienced in a long time. There are some big games on the schedule coming up and we have to win some of those to be relevant again. Otherwise its another 6-6 season and irrelevance will continue to define our program

Not for some posters. Some had us going 10-2. When you set your sights so high, the fall is harder to take. That's what all these whiners is about. Their head was in the sky.

I don't know. To be honest I've kept away from Volnation the last couple of days due to all of the negativity and outrageous posts. The stupidity of the folks on here is astounding.

this is a rebuilding year for dooley--he inherited a depleted roster last year and it will take 2-3 more recruiting classes to stock up.

That's what almost every major analyst predicted. People need to be realistic with their expectations for this season. I've said 7-5 all along. Anything better would be awesome but I don't think it'll end up that way

No giving up here. We should play pretty mistake from here on out. Pressure is off. Time to go have fun and whoop up on Georgia. Rivera will play a huge role for us now just like Witten did for Clausen. Defense is better than I expected. Need Lathers back for AJ's spot. The glass is half full( with bourbon and ice).

i agree....I'm tired of all these negative a** *itches on here calling themselves vol fans. Dogging our players and coaches over one game is piss poor and you are not a VFL. This is when they need our support the most. Keep all this negative bull**** to yourself because our player, our recruits, and their parents see all of it. If my post offends you, then you are worse than a troll and a detriment to the program. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!

Finally a positive thread. Thanks VG98. Seriously, we lost our best receiver 4 offensive plays into the game and wonder why it took our offense a while to regroup. That was huge shock to this offense. Still only lost by 10 in the swamp. Actually if they had called the pass interference as we were driving in the 4th when the interception occurred, the score possibly could have been cut to 3 with a chance at an onside kick. There were like 12 freshman playing in their first hostile environment, yet they never quit. Arnett was thrown into the fire without notice and led the receivers in catches. Imagine what he will do when he has 2 weeks to prepare and the coaches design plays specifically for him. It's way too early to give up. Our defense looked bad at time but also good at times. It was nice to actually get a few sacks. We could not run the football, but that isn't much different than the first 2 games. Bray still looked really good considering all the bad snaps and the pressure he faced. He did have nearly 300 yds passing with 3 TDs. I personally still feel good about this team and look forward to watching them get better this season. Yes, we will lose more games, but so what. The people that thought we were going 12-0, 11-1, or even 10-2 were dreaming anyways.

I hear what you're saying and yes there are some things we can take away from the Florida game to build on.

Having said that, I think the biggest frustration/concern from those on this board is squarely with our OL and why they can't seem to drive people off the ball and open holes for our RB's. Most of these boys were highly touted players out of high school. They have played together for an entire season (with the exception of Bullard) plus a spring and summer camp together and 3 games into season 2. And they have gotten bigger & stronger in the weight room. Yet they look WORSE this year than they did last year. It's like they have regressed. Yet no one can seem to find an answer as to why. I don't think anyone is jumping off a bridge but -9 yards rushing?? I'm sorry but that is flat out embarassing and inexcusable! I don't care if it was Florida we were playing. NO positive yardage?!?

(1) game does not make a season. Let's wait until the end and evaluate.

I couldn't agree more. We are still in September for crying out loud. This season is a long way from being over. People need to support this team and stop finding so many things to whine about.

This was what I don't understand. If someone had us going 10-2, then wouldn't this be 1of the 2? If so, wouldn't we still be on track?

Most expect us to lose against Bama, LSU, Arkansas and Florida, and have a fighting chance against USC and GA. If we pull off 1 upset of the first 4 beat 1of the other 2, along with everyone else we are supposed to beat, that puts us at 8-4, a very respectable regular season given all the recent history.

With all of his super powers, you would think that Sir Freak would be able to infuse prozac into the board somehow.

Losing Hunter is definitely a tough break, but overall I was impressed by the teams "Never Give Up" attitude....I thought Bray played pretty well considering the circumstances!

Our kicking game needs to improve other than kick coverage, where we look solid.....

Losing to Florida was not a big surprise to me. I figured we would be 3-1 going into the GA game. Wishing, hoping, wringing hands, fits of rage, nor tantrums will change things. Only hard work, smart coaching, a good recruiting year and playing time will bring improvement.

If this is at all about my thread I clarified I haven't given up. I will be at the next 2 games hope others will be as well. My thread was about how our issues this year will help us next. Not how will do this year. Good point though op as I agree this year can still be good. We have a number of items to address though between now and it's completion.
