It didn't work the prior two plays! Kiffin disappointed me with his playcalling almost as much as JC made me angry.

So you would have wanted Crompton to try to win the game for us instead?

I have an idea. With the game on the line, let's put it in the hands of the one player that was single-handedly losing the game for the team.

I mean seriously. Had we decided to throw the ball then, and it had been incomplete (or more likely, intercepted) can you imagine what level of outrage there would be around here?

Crompton hit hancock the same drive to get them that close so play action could have worked.

Yes, I wanted Crompton to win the game for us so he could redeem himself for the game he had. Pitch to the right even and we win the game.

Guess what guys, he didn't score and we didn't win. Get over it, it's a little thing called life. Hindsight is 20/20 etc etc blah blah blah you guys whine too much

It was a pretty hard thing to miss

i wished he had pitched the ball instead of running it right up the middle on 4th down. That offensive play call was a serious disappointment.

I heard somewhere that CPF intercepted the headset frequency and called the play to give Hamilton the middle finger...

And that's exactly why UCLA was able to stop it. That's exactly why we lost.

well we couldn't do anything else on offense. sure it was expected, but come one....you don't put the game-deciding play on the shoulders of the guy you already know won't make it

We lined up man on man, our big uglies against theirs, with the game on the line. That is the essence of "smash mouth" football. We had the advantage. We knew what the count would be. We had been successful doing that over the course of the game.

"One more push fellas... just a couple feet and we walk away winners...."

Our O-line got beat. Our guys didn't have it in the tank. Whatever happened happened. And we couldn't get it done when the game was on the line. We didn't deserve to win it. It happens that way sometimes.

They had speed (especially on the ends) and if we'd strung it out, we would have lost yardage and everyone would be saying "Why didn't we just play smash mouth and shove it down their throats"

We put our best against theirs and we lost. Stop acting like UCLA was beneath us. They weren't and they're not. I think their defense is for real, but only time will tell.

I bet the Nu-Gun would have scored. Fake it to Bryce Brown and run his ass to the right side of the field.

Put it this way.......An SEC team SHOULD be able to run it up the gut for 2 yards on a game winning drive! If you can't (like we showed) you don't deserve to win!

Plain and simple.

Go Vols!!

should, but it would be hard for any team if the only way they could make it to that point was pretty much all running plays because their passing game was worthless

The defense was all lined up in the middle though. I wouldve been happy with anything but a second straight run up the middle there.

they had though too been busting through the line and getting on the sweeps in the backfield or on the side turns too alot of the game...i honestly felt we were going to be screwed one way or another

yeah, but i can think of several other passes that showed it was a bad idea...including 4 that specifically come to mind and another play where the defense burst through the line on the play action
