Why the hate on Palardy?

So many people forget the fact that they kick from the 40 in high school.

That's true, but 90% of his KO's in HS went through the back of the end zone, meaning his kicks in college would consistently be 5 yards deep. As I said earlier, I think it has less to do with his ability and more to do with the coaches. I think they want the ball between the end zone and the 10 yard line and HIGH to allow the coverage more time to get in position. It's pretty obvious IMO, if you pay attention to the games.

A: He came in over hyped and hasn't lived up to it.

B: He can't kick it in the endzone.

C: Everyone one of his FG attempts hook to the left and are normally low.

D: His PAT's are low

E: I have absolutely no confidence in him to hit a clutch kick, do you?

I could go on...

I think this hit the nail right on the head!!

x2 Palardy was rated the number #1 kicker and Darr the #1 punter. Seems they have both regressed since coming to the hill.

maybe UT need to invest in a kicking coach who actually knows how to kick a ball then.....seriously. I know a lot of these kids spend a lot of time going to camps in the summer because schools don't have coaching worth a crap. maybe that is the case at UT the past few years.

I don't hate him.
I do cringe every time he goes on the field tho.

Cause we're driving for the win at the end of the game if he doesn't miss that 37yarder in first qtr.

Cause coming up empty handed after a team has walked down the field provides moral victory and motivation to the other team.

Because he sucks

Palardy had a personal kicking coach when he was in HS.

Actually, he's a lefty so he hooks it to the right. Just saying.:)

OP - there is a good reason Dooley has accepted a verbal commitment for this year's recruiting class when our kicker is only a sophomore. Tells you all you need to know.

He was a 5 star kicker coming in. All I can say is if they start 'paying' these players - then they had better play better. He also missed a FG against Cinncy.

he was not a 5 star kicker - #1 overall but I don't think a kicker has ever been a 5 star

and if we had paid for palardy we would be due a refund for sure

I don't understand it.... He missed a FG in a game at the Swamp..... Last year Daniel Lincoln had a great season, only missed a couple of FG's and was still dogged.
We can't always have guys like Reviez, Colquitt, Walls, or Wilhoit on the team....

Palardy is a good kicker, he just hasn't had much pressure on him yet, give him time. He will develop just like everyone else on the team.

PALARDY SUCKS..... simple as that! Most overrated kicker I've ever seen #1 kicker my @$$; I've seen 'em better in junior high than him. Hopefully he missed the team plane back to Knoxville.

He is just a terrible Kicker.... I am pretty sure kiffin just looked at his rating and went after him. I think he is terrible and we should get someone else in here ASAP.

Actually Palardy has been pretty good inside the 40 his problem has been 40+. His miss on Saturday was his first miss inside the 40 since he has been here. Believe it or not there are not many college kickers that kick the into the end zone on a consistent basis. Palardy gets good hang time on kick offs and our coverage has been pretty good because of it. Don't get me wrong Palardy is not a great kicker atm but we have far worse problems on this team.

because a 7-3 game changes things completely. a 37 yard field goal in good weather needs to be made at this level...not blaming him for the loss, but there would have a been a different feel if we had answered immediately

He sucks sooooo much

that was him on the punt as well wasn't it? You have to know to get it out of there faster, even if it means a 30 yard punt, if you see them coming on an all out blitz. Because he sure took his damn time on a 3 stepper.

If the staff would just pick a punter and stick with him they might be better prepared. CDD said himself we were not lined up properly for what Florida was showing and that he saw it (the block) coming be but failed to call timeout. Either way Palardy was way to slow getting it off.
