Why the disrespect?

I agree, but I would have a hard time not taking plays off when an overwhelmed freshman or Matt Simms was supposed to be getting me the ball.

Yeah, but it's hard to not feel like he can do better when he has the most targets in the conference (115) and when you look at his catch rate (58.3%). He should have better catch rates than Odell Beckham, Jr., Marquise Maze, Emory Blake, and Chris Smith. He was targeted more often than any other receiver in the conference; the quarterback is no excuse for laziness.

It's not, I agree. I don't think you can attribute it all to laziness. Frustration is probably a better term for a lot of it.

You think Da'Rick is better than Berry? Meachem? Mayo?

I think he's a great WR, but he's not the best player to come through Knoxville since Peyton.

i really do. i know its not popular opinion but if i were to start a team from scratch id rather have him than any of those guys.

Who was the QB in those 3 games?

I realize that and it's a good point but I stand by my opinion of where Da'Rick is as a receiver. If Bray stays healthy and Da'Rick keeps his head on straight and learns to go hard every play our offense could be deadly. I have wondered if CP is the stud he appears to be and if JH comes back full speed how Da'Rick will respond to losing the spotlight. It may actually help him but I could see it going either way.

On a side note has anyone ever nicknamed Da'Rick the doctor as in DR? Seems like an obvious nickname. "It's 3rd and 8 time to call up the DR" Oh well it's late......

Da'Rick won't lose the spotlight

Maybe not but even last year preinjury JH got more attention then Da'Rick. Everyone always like the new guys and the comeback stories so we'll see. Probably a non issue but immaturity can rear it's ugly head over all kinds of stupid crap.

Vol Fans just want to have an uber-talented player with an attitude so we can ***** and moan about something. We have an unending need to be disappointed.

That may be, but if he wants to have a T.O. attitude, the least he can do is put forth T.O. effort.

He does. You're not a 220 lb WR that runs in the 4.4's if you're lazy or lack effort.

Getting pissed off because you have an incompetent QB doesn't make you lazy.

Look at his effort when Bray was under center. No one was questioning it then.

Is it immature? Yes. Does it need to stop? Yes.

Rogers is pre-season first team all-SEC. He is primarily disrespected by by butt-hurt Georgia fans and VN internet experts.

IMO, they're both equally talented players in their own right, but JH has come here and been a model student athlete, at least to a point we don't hear about it, whild DR from day one has been in the news with starting with his arrest his first summer, which is probably causing some of the "disrespect"

Both guys need to be respected by us and other teams cause as soon as you don't they'll hurt you with a TD or two.

Also, another sidenote here: Disrespect for Worley can stop too. I dunno if the disrespect is directed at Simms, or what, but after Bray is gone, Worley or Peterman will be plenty good. He got thrown into the fire as a true freshman. I like the kid.

Basically, disrespect for any of our players, regardless of the season we had/will have, is rather tasteless. Support the team.

It's a ridiculous argument all the way around. As much as I like both these guys neither will be sniffing a Heisman unless we can win twice as many games as last year. Someone said Rogers has been our most consistent player the last two years which may be true but he only had 11 catches his freshman year and last year his highest catch total agaist an SEC team not named Vanderbilt was 5. I'm not trying to knock Da'Rick but he had very average stats agaist good teams. Florida 5 catches, LSU 3 catches, Georgia 5 catches, South Carolina 4 catches, Alabama 2 catches. Agaist SEC teams not named Vanderbilt Da'Rick had 1 touchdown catch. Truth is Da'Rick is a great talent but teams know how to get in his head. I'm still glad he's on our team but he needs to continue to improve this year because he's not an elite receiver yet. Blast away.....

You forget he was the ONLY receiver that those top-ranked SEC defenses were focusing on. He was double covered all day there's no way he had the opportunity to make more catches.

I think Worley's games against MTSU and Arkansas are what I would expect from a freshman quarterback thrown in when he was expecting a redshirt. 499 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception isn't all conference, but it isn't horrendous for a young player adjusting to a new system. He completed 62.3% of his passes in those two games with a 131.83 efficiency rating. He can develop into a solid quarterback, but he will have to hold off Peterman.

I think people confuse a lack of awknowledgement with disrespect. I hope the reports of greater maturity from Rogers is true. He has greatness in him, but it is really easy to turn people against you with a bad attitude. Why is praising Hunter disrespecting Rogers? Hunter has done everything right except getting hurt. Rogers has done great things, but he has gotten a lot of bad press too. Eliminate the negative reports and the fans will forgive. Just don't feel like these players need you to rescue them from criticism, and defintely quit defending him from another players accolades!

Having tghe better season if both play does not make him the better WR. And my argument clearly stated that take Rogers out of the picture and Hunter does not have nearly the season Rogers had. Good try but you made the mistake of taking one statement totally out of context.

Secondly just because Hunter would have gotten more deep targets does not mean he necessarily has the better season because as I also mentioned he would have faced much better secondaries. To this point I have not seen him consistently beat anything other than single coverage. I am wracking my brain to remember on Hunter TD caught in anything but single coverage. I similarly wrack it remembering a DR catch without at least 2 guys in the vicinity.. other than the time he drug Hunny bunny half a mile.

The only time Da'Rick ever got slowed down was end of season against vandy and uk with broke bray. I honestly think that was more about bray coming back before he should have than the fact both teams sold out double and triple covering him. You put Simms or Worley in either of those games and Da'Rick goes nuts on those fools. bray was just flat out broken and should have been rested till bowl season.

I recall a TD in the Ole Miss game as a true freshman. Hunter went up over two defenders to make a spectacular catch.

I also recall Rogers making a TD catch against Cincy where he was all by himself in the back of the end zone due to the defense keying on Hunter in the red zone. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I love what both bring to the table, but seems like you have a selective memory.
