Why is Da'Rick Rogers so disrespected? It can't just be his supposed attitude because the disrespect had started well before that.

I just read a thread where a guy had his top 10 Heisman Hopefuls and included Justin Hunter and not Rogers. That is insane. Even if you think Hunter is better (which I do not) they are in the same zip code and Rogers has 2 things going for him that Hunter does not. A track record and no history of injury problems.

Before people get all bent out of shape I am in no way discounting Hunters talent. The dude is a taller, faster Denaruis Moore. He has better speed, height and hands. Now here is the thing.. the difference in speed and height is a bit overblown and basically offset by his better size and route running.

Hands so far is the big separator and in my mind a question mark because of their different play-styles. Hunter has a lot less contact, almost no underneath routes and is usually taking hits from CB's not safeties and LB's. Even in the NFL most WR's with a playstyle like Rogers develop a rep for drops for this exact reason. They take a lot bigger hits and that gets in your mind sometimes.

Rogers was the only WR we had for the bulk of last season. On top of that he was catching passes from not only 3 different QB's (I actually count it as 4 because Bray after injury threw a different ball) but three QB with totally different throwing styles.

Some will compare their performances early in the season when both played together but even that is apples to oranges. A lot of that was against lesser competition and it can be said Hunter has little to no track record of production against the big boys. Look at what Rogers did ALONE against what was probably the most stacked secondaries in the country of Bama and LSU.

If we turn the tables and Rogers goes down I am confident in thinking, even with a healthy Bray, Hunter couldn't have put up those numbers. He is not that type of guy.

Rogers is a 1 Hunter is a devastating 2. But he needs someone on the other side, they don't have to be great but he needs someone to take some attention off of him to produce. Rogers is going to put up numbers no matter what as long as the ball gets thrown to him.

This is why it infuriates me to see people throwing him in the slot and chucking Patterson in his spot. If anything it will be Patterson in the slot because lord knows Hunter can't go there. The only reason ever to put Rogers in the slot is for match-up reasons.

Sorry for the rant but this has been bothering me for most of the off season. I came in my fireproof pants but am cool with any flames as long as someone can please explain to me with something other than "I don't like his attitude" how in the heck anyone can think anyone but Rogers is the best WR in the SEC much less our roster.

All number 1 WR's are headcases....all of them. You have to be to play the position at that level.

I've never understood it. One of the more talented kids we've ever had here. An utter stud.

I think Rogers will look even better this year with Patterson and Hunter on the field with him. I don't think he is a game breaker that can carry a team - he hasn't proven that he is a legitimate deep threat (I don't care how fast he think he is)

Let me start by defending my Heisman list. I already said I gave Hunter the nod based on a flashier style of play. I never knocked Da'Rick, and I never have. I think Da'Rick gets placed in the slot because he is tough enough to go over the middle, making him even more dangerous in the passing attack. Patterson hasn't shown that same willingness, but he has shown promise on the outside. I think it has more to do with matchups than respect and disrespect. I do think Da'Rick has caught a little too much heat for his attitude, but it is a concern. I hope that clarifies my position.

All reports have said the attitude is in check and Rogers has grown up a little bit. I think he's finally looking at the big picture and realizing no matter how talented you are that not being a team player will cost you money in the NFL. Let's face it, barring injury, he's gone after this year and I'll be the first to wish him good luck.

He makes the plays, but right or wrong the perception among people who are not really familiar with DaRick, is that he has an attitude problem. History is full of players who have all the ability in the world, but their off the field actions prevent them from being successful.

If DaRick cleans up his off the field episodes, he may earn AA this season based on his on field performance. I believe that he is well on his way in doing this and time will tell.

Hunter is the more polished receiver with more explosive ability.
Rogers is gritty and incredible talented himself.
I hate that people want to pick and choose one when we have both! What's it matter who's best and who's second?? We have the two best receivers in any game we will play this year!

Respectfully disagree...only because in games where both players played, hunter had better numbers.

But I think both players are able to make catches/plays that the other could not. But as far as Heisman talk goes, rogers does not have that homerun threat, huge yardage that a player needs to get those national votes you need to win it.

Good news is we have them both :) just my personal preference that I like that break away burst speed in a WR, I can show you a few catches last year by rogers that if he had just a little more speed, they would have went for a TD

I think he is one heck of a player, and his talent speaks for itself. ALTHOUGH, there is a difference between talent, and heart. When talent srops off, heart takes over! Last year, it seemed as if on some plays he just had a I don't care attitude. I remember one in particular where it was an out route, the ball was there, but the DB was closer than what I think he wanted, so instead when he broke out he just let it go. It was catchable, he just didn't want to I think because he was covered well, and couldn't make a huge gain on it. If he brings the heart, and mindset, he'll be UNSTOPPABLE! !!

Da'Rick? That you? Don't worry man I think your awesome.

Seriously... He gets to much crap over his attitude. I think half of it is fabricated. JH gets the love cause he has shown flashes of something very very special. At times he is uncoverable. He stays healthy and I think he breaks records on this level and the next.

Don't worry Da'Rick your going to make lots of money and maybe a ring this year......

Drive for show (Hunter) and putt for dough (D. Rogers). I think both are awesome and while Hunter is a great athlete, Da'Rick is a great football player.
