Terry Fair and Mark Levine made a great point today and I totally agree with there evaluation. Let me start by saying I am behind Dooley and love the guy and what he is doing. I am not calling for his head nor should anybody else at this point...Too early. A good head coach and staff makes there money at Halftime during a game. Whether u are down or up. A staff must be able to go in and have a plan for the second half. You have to able to adjust to what the other team is doing. Most of us can agree that we are a horrible second half team. Most of this can attribute to depth and inexperience. However, we have not come out with fire or a solid plan at any point this season and it raises a valid question to what is being done at Halftime.

I don't think it is valid. LSU didn't make some miraculous halftime adjustments to turn it around. They simply pounded the rock, and we wore down because they have better players and more depth. Halftime adjustments had nothing to do with it.

Maybe, just maybe do to lack of experience and youth...

This x 1,000,000,000.

I appreciate Terry & Mark and their contributions to the university, but their opinion about Dooley is no more valid than anybody else on the OUTSIDE of the Neyland Thompson Complex.

It's hard to make adjustments on offense in the 2nd half when you have the ball once a quarter

I hink halftime adjustments, while normally overrated, may be important in giving a team a chance to stop what has caused them trouble the first half. That's not ben our problem.

The biggest adjustment LSU made at halftime was inserting Jefferson at QB and running the ball 99 yards down our throats. Bottom line, we do not have the talent nor the depth to play with teams like LSU, AL, Oregon, etc.. I think we have proved that several times the past 1 1/2 seasons. A couple of key injuries like we have experienced and we are doomed (no depth). Give Dooley a couple of more good recruiting classes and I don't think we will be as non-competitive in the 2nd half against great teams.

You can make adjustments all day long when you have the personel to to adjust. LSU PLAYS 8 - 8 DEFENSIVE LINEMEN!!! How can fans be so criticle of a coaching staff that has 2 recruiting classes under their belt?

0-10 for Dooley is not a good stat, but it may be something of a skewed stat. A big part of being able to compete effectively in the second half is depth, and we've had none for at least two years. You could argue that Kiffin's team had the same problem. It is also worth noting that Dooley has also beaten every team he was supposed to thus far with no let downs, and most of the teams he was trailing to at halftime were not only deeper, but more talented.

I would buy this argument if LSU didn't have their way from the opening whistle of the second half. If they are that gassed coming out of halftime, then we really do need to hope that conditioning improves. I would buy them being purely purely short on talent before buying gassed coming out of halftime.

Warhammer has a good point. What does being gassed have to do with the opening drive of the second half after the half time rest?

LSU came out and executed an excellent drive to start the half. I think we were tiring on that drive. It lasted 7 or 8 minutes and we couldn't get off the field. Then, the offense gives the ball right back to them, and they proceed to just completely wear us down.

I'd actually disagree just slightly. What you say is definitely true with regard to us wearing down, but I think LSU did make a slight adjustment in that they started going more to the edge rather than between the tackles so much and mixed in a lot more Jordan Jefferson to exploit our lack of speed. Although, I wouldn't doubt that it might not have been part of their plan all along.

Agreed. We played hard and the D gave it all they had... literally... in the first half. The coaches might have done a few things different but i don't think the players could.

It's been mindblowing to me all year that we don't have OLBs or DEs who can run down the alleys and stop this nonsense. It's particularly bothersome when I look at how many DEs this staff took in 2010 and how many LBs they took in the 2011 class. I assume they signed the best they could get but it does make me wonder why we don't have anyone who can get to the edge when this staff has recruited a passel of the players who should be in a position to dojust that.
