Penn State drama aside. WHY should TN fans have accepted the hire without any push back. I'm sick of people saying we should have just accepted it WHY?! What has this guy done? His head coaching record was not good at all. He is hated among many NFL people and players. Do you all just want to a middle of the road team forever? Don't try to spin this as a good hire on us fans. There is ZERO I mean literally ZERO argument that this guy would have been a good coach.

It's just poor leadership.. Blaming it on the fans is the easy way out for them. The white house press secretary chimed in on it it was so bad. Currie has lost any confidence anyone would of had in him. He screwed this deal sideways.

My question, exactly. Why should we have accepted this hire lying down like the stupid little blind, deaf, and dumb sheep John Currie evidently considers the fan base to be? He told us to expect him to hire a man who was, "...Big... Expensive... and Explosive..." Well, I suppose he found he found out how explosive our fan base can be in responding to his base stupidity. Now in answer to the question, there are two reasons we should not have accepted this hire:

1). It is evident by the evidence released in 2016 that Schiano told Bradley that he saw Sandusky doing something to a boy in a shower. Now we all know that he did not follow up by telling the administration or police, as he is obligated to do by law.

2). His coaching record at both Rutgers and in the NFL. His winning record is just a nick above .500, I believe. And he is known to have been abusive to players both on the college and NFL levels. There are also reports that he is a difficult man for his peers (both as a head coach and as an assistant coach) to work with on the college level.

With the dumpster fire left by the hirings made by Mike Hamilton and Dave Hart, I do not believe we need a man of Greg Schiano's reputation leading the team. We need someone who will build the team, not create further division.

Go Vols...

Agreed, even if i could ignore or believe that the penn state thing didnt include Schiano, he's not a good coach. He's proven nothing to me. Wow, Rutgers, good job. That's not the SEC and it's not Tennessee. We play Bama every year, it's Rutgers....

But honestly, this guy at the very least played dumb to the fact that his boss was molesting little boys. After all the evidence has come out, it's very apparent that a lot of ppl in that program ignored it. I dont care if we end up with a top tier coach, I would never back Tennessee if they chose Schiano, and I have been a fan my whole life. My moral compass wouldn't allow me to support him.

All I heard was "Bend over, Vols fans, and accept mediocrity." And we said, "No Mr. Sandusky!"

I disagree with this line of thinking IF you are completely forgetting the Penn St. Stuff. You cant reject a coach day one just because you think he isnt a good coach. What message does that send to future coaches?

That if you have a .500 record in the Big East, you don’t deserve the job at one of the top 10 programs of all time in CFB. Greg Schiano is trash. He can kick rocks.

There is plenty of evidence he isn't a good coach. Look at his record at Rutgers...look at all the mess that was caused when he was the Bucs coach. There is literally no "thinking" to it. There is hard stone cold evidence he isn't a good coach that you can't argue.

What im saying is you can do that based on just football stuff. The same argument can be made that people should react that way to campbell, brohm, taggart, etc. If you want to do that, good luck finding a coach

Aside from the debatable part of him being a pedophile enabler.
He ordered a code red on Peyton and Eli Manning's knees.
His record in a crap conference is 28-48 with zero rings in 11 years.
Miserable failure in Tampa.
Caustic personality dividing locker rooms and fanbases.
His defense at OSU gave up 55 points to 7-5 Iowa. IOWA

There's so much more than just the Sandusky mess. Yes this hire was completely unacceptable.
