Why should we cheer for Vandy this weekend?

I would pull for Al Queda State or Isis U, verse vandy,, Being a lifelong Nashvillian, I cant, don't and wont pull for vandy against anyone, ever. Hate Hate Hate

Vandy is not good enough to warrant any emotion other than sympathy. The only positive is UF could get to the SEC title game and retain Muschamp if they get some breaks.

I will be pulling for vandy. My hatred for fla runs deep. I've never really, over the years, given vandy much thought. I know they beat us a couple times recently, but we all knew that wouldn't last. Vandy will go back into hibernation as they do. Fla will be the stepping stone to the east title for quite along time. I wish them the worst. Bama is the other team I wish the worst. I've seen them celebrate too often over the years at our expense. They both got their celebration this year, but the days of reckoning are coming. I think they know it, and we are beginning to sense it ourselves. The future is ours! Just a little more time is all we need!

The chances are 1 in a million, but here is why we should cheer for Vandy.

Florida plays (3-3) SEC record
Vandy this weekend
South Carolina next weekend

if they lose either of these then we are tied with them in SEC rankings (they have the tie breaker)

Georgia plays
Kentucky this weekend
Auburn next weekend

Kentucky is unlikely to beat Georgia, but we need for Georgia to lose out. (they have the tie breaker)

Missouri Still has 3 SEC games
Texas A&M
Tennessee
Arkansas (least likely of all games)

Missouri needs to lose out. (We would have the tie breaker over them) This is key because they have the tie breaker over Florida. Florida has the tie breaker over Georgia. This just creates a circle meaning that overall records are determined.

If UGA loses those game, that leaves them with 6 wins.

If Florida loses to Vandy or USC they would have to beat FSU to have a better overall record.

If Missouri loses those games we then have the same overall record. So now our only head-to-head is Missouri, and we go to the SEC championship.

So I'm saying there's a chance...a diminutive chance, but a chance

Since when do non-conference games and overall record affect the race for the SEC East?

I'll answer my own question. When you have a three-way tie that is unbreakable, such as three 7-1 teams who all beat each other, it used to come down to the BCS rankings. I don't know what they'd do now. It would not simply be overall record. That would be even more unfair than the fact that we all play different teams from the West.

Are you arguing against yourself? :eek:hmy:

if UT gets 6 wins, hopefully they don't get stuck in shreveport playing some no name mid major. That town is a dump--the best hotel is a motel 6 by the freeway and the entertainment is drinking PBR outside the nearby convenience store.

My two favorite teams are Tennessee and whoever is playing Florida.

Some VU fans are calling for a win. This from the football forum on vandymania.

14.5 points? Pffft... Vandy gets off to a fast start... Derek Mason gets his first SEC win... Muschamp gets fired on the plane ride home.

You heard it here. I just have that feeling. Had it about the UF game last year too.

I have had the same feeling.... Just afraid to voice it. I will only differ with Brent in having Muschimp fired at the Gainesvillle airport. Gators used their storehouse of energy last week. They will be flat and cold. We will be ready for blood.

I think it is very possible that we win. They should start on them early and get up big! We can possibly do that with JMac. Which in turn if we can build a 2 TD or more lead, it will force them to throw the ball and not run it every play. They wouldn't have the time to run it all the time and to catch up.

I believe we can win. If we do, and if Alabama puts Mississippi State "in context" the way they did Texas A&M, all bets could be off in Starkville. We would have two weeks to get ready for a shattered team who could very well be playing for a lame duck coach. Best thing about this scenario, wild and improbable though it may be, is that it would leave UT quaking in their ankle boots.

Personally, I thinks it's laughable. Their offense is putrid. UF shuts them down easily IMO. Florida rolls.

I am not pulling for either to win. I will root for both to lose and relish when one does lose and ignore that the other one won. Mental gymnastics ftw!

If everyone ends up at 4-4.
Tennessee with a win over Missouri and loses to Florida and Georgia
Vs.
Missouri with a win on Florida and a loss to both tenn and UGA
Vs
Florida with a win over tenn and UGA and loss to Missouri
Vs
UGA with a win over Missouri and tenn and loss to Florida

Tennessee and Missouri are eliminated in the first tiebreaker of record among the tied teams. In which case it reverts to a two way tie and Florida wins on head to head. so there is no chance.

I effin love it. That we have a team with enough spark to even motivate someone to run all the numbers.

Regarding the topic I have no issue rooting against UF. If Vandy just happens to be the benefactor then so what.

But then Muschamp keeps his job and UF fans drown Gainesville in a river of tears - WINNING.
