Why should Fulmer be fired?

it's his first year, he's gotten nothing but praise from anyone that talks about him, plus he had a horrible offensive line blocking for his rb's. fulmer's supposed to be an offensive line guy. give me a break on roper

I'm sure he'll be around next year, so we'll see what he does.

Fulmer kept Sanders several years to long...

sanders was here 7 years as OC only. Roper's been here 1 as RB's coach. bad, no scratch that, horrible comparison

That statement is like saying a Army sargeant should be fired for the military mess in Iraq!:banghead2:

Roper as the postion coach should at minimum put the best player on the field. What was Foster doing playing over Coker?

Then Roper doesn't need to be an assistant coach..
They can get a grad assistant to run drills,

How many more chances does he get...? '98 seems so long ago...I'm not out to get him fired...I just want to know when we can expect to get the kind of results that we used to take for granted year in and year out...!

I can't imagine this team without 'ol Phil. You guys are asking for him to be fired. Ok, who's a good candidate to replace him? Now I'm sure you'll come up with all these crazy names. This is Tennessee. It takes a unique individual to coach here and we have him. Get over the fact that he supposedly stabbed Johnny Majors in the back. We just had a horrible '05 season and this year we turned it around finishing with 9 wins. Now people want to complain. I don't get it. I still say that if EA was healthy all season, we're in the BCS picture. That's how the ball drops sometimes.

Some one said Roper needs to be fired. Even more so than him Slade needs to be canned.

And even more so maybe Long (Conditioning Coach) should worry more about getting the Offensive and Defensive lines bulked up and ready for a possible 14 games season and worry less about jumping around and swinging his towel around on the sidelines.

Yeah I know I'm getting petty but when things get mediocre everyone steps into the spotlight.

You know it seems there is a contingency out there always trying to push the idea that it is always the assistant coaches fault that the football program is in the shape that it is in. That is one way to bide Fulmer more time as the head coach. It would be interesting to find out who these people are. They may be closely connected to Fulmer himself. :clapping:

I think Fulmer needs to go too. I'm just saying Slade needs to join him. Slade was an offensive line man in College so I mean what can he really "know" about DB's except for things he sees? No experience at the posistion he's coaching. Not doing much with the defensive back talent we get through here.

I can't stress how much I want young firey coaches in here. Like Trooper Taylor.

Why Fulmer should be fired:
(1). Discipline on and off the field has grown very lax. Coach Cut. would probably 2nd that motion.
(2). Coach Pearl has exposed the weakness in the football staff that Coach Fulmer lacks the ability to inspire, motivate, and get his players to hustle.
(3). Coach Fulmer lacks the ability to make in - game adjustments. His abililty to change strategy and tatics is pretty limited.
(4). The better SEC coaches would tell you that in the 4th quarter, they can outcoach Fulmer and pull out a victory.
(5). The football typically plays down to the level of their opponents.
(6). In games where the opponent's talent level is equal or greater than the Vols, Fulmer lacks the ability to outcoach his opponent. (see #3).
(7). Given a month to prepare for a bowl game - there were no new offensive packages/plays (see #3).

That's laughable. I didn't see him play a single snap on either line. Also, he was healthy Monday, that really looked like a BCS team.

Agreed.

EA was healthy against PSU. UT didn't look like a BCS team in that game. They looked like a team struggling to stay in the top 25 which is what UT is.
