Why Pruitt stayed (conjecture)

Some of you people that are trying to use the Bonus money that Pruitt earned to bash and belittle him are sad, pathetic people and I seriously feel sorry for you.

After taxes Pruitt will have earned a little over $100,000. and that's what his employment contract as a coach offered him and it's a nice chunk of change.

That extra money was hard earned and well deserved and all coaches have a Bonus guarantee for post season play so it's nothing new.

Some things to keep in mind about Coach Pruitt..

He took lots LESS $$$ at Tennessee so he could pay his coaching assistants more $$$ and be able to get his people hired and get their families to move to K town.

Pruitt grew up as the son of a HS coach so he wasn't spoiled by a rich family.

He learned early on how to live and survive on a tight budget as a HS teacher and coach.

He worked hard and earned his way to a spot working for alaBubba and you can bet that he was excited by his huge contract for $80,000 even though close to 1/2 of that went for taxes.

He kept working hard, endless hours and kept getting well earned raises and position changes but he was still living on a budget after taxes.

Even earning what most of us would consider BIG $$$ you can bet that the budget minded Pruitt and his wife don't waste and squander their money because they know what having to live on much less money is all about.

Pruitt visits the homes of top recruits all the time and many of those families are far from wealthy and many are probably considered as poor.

He doesn't forget his roots and where he comes from and everyone says that he's the same guy now as he was back when he was coaching a High School team and earning much less.

I believe he went to finish this season as he committed to do and to try to help the kids at Bama win a Natty because that's what his contract says and because he promised those players he would do that.

Sure, the extra money is nice but with Pruitt it's mostly all about the kids.

That's why the kids that play for him have so much respect for him and why they also love the guy that makes them work their butts off in practice.

It's sad to see so many people here lower themselves to try to bash and belittle our new Head footVol coach and try to make things up with totally UNrealistic expectations for next season.

All I see and have read about Pruitt says he does the right things in the right ways because he cares about the kids.

He loves teaching the kids how to become better students, better people and better football players and to get them setup to be much better, more successful adults.

That's the kind of coach I'd want my son to mentor under!

The negative, Trollish garbage and made up BS needs to stop because is DOES have a effect on our recruits and their families that do come here to VN to try to learn more about our beloved Tennessee footVol program.

That's been proven on here many times and I'd prefer to sign as many top recruits as we can help convince to attend Tennessee.

The only one calling names and talking down to people is you. No one in this thread has gone off on Pruitt.

You mention how Pruitt took less money for his assistants: I'm the one that started that thread.

Saying that money may have motivated Pruitt's decision is not necessarily a knock on him. Everyone of us make decisions every day based on money. To claim it had no affect on his decision making is tough to back up.

So please, stop with the name calling and trashing just because you want to believe Pruitt's motivation was altruistic.

Nobody works for free

Didn’t say they did. Agree there.

We’re discussing what JP’s primary motivation was to do both jobs and I’m saying if money were his sole motivator, he’d have come to Tennessee 100% in December to start his $3.8mm job which pays him $317,000 a month rather than stay at Alabama for the month and damn near kill himself for $234,000 (closer to $150k after taxes). Plus, the guy has been making 7 figure salaries for 2-3 years now, he’s got cash banked. In the grand scheme of things, that ain’t much money for him and certainly not worth the time and energy investment while being away from the new job that will pay him at least $25mm over the next 6 years.

Maybe I’m being too much of an idealist here....or maybe you’re being too much of a cynic.

2 problems with this: 1. I haven't seen anyone say money is his sole motivation (although some are trying to claim "the kids" are his sole motivation. And 2. You think he's not drawing a check from UT right now? I bet he is, and haven't seen anything that says he didn't get paid for December on the contact he signed.

Oh really, what exactly was his obligation and where did it end? You think he sat in houses 2 years ago and told the parents "I'll be there for your kid until January 2018, cause we'll be playing in the national title game, aight, but after that, I am free to take another opportunity."

What do you think he was telling kids on the recruiting trail in October of this year after the Tennessee game? I guess he changed his line or updated his obligation?

I am not saying Pruitt even did anything wrong, or even anything different than what I would have done in his shoes, but saying that money doesn't affect his decision making is ludicrous (see John Gruden) and it's also ludicrous to try to argue he had some specific obligation to certain recruits up to a certain date and then somehow released from an obligation to current recruits. Yes, he coached these certain kids and I'm sure he wanted to be there to finish out the championship season with them.

I for one believe you can have honor and integrity and also think about money when making decisions about work.

You guys keep going, you social justice warriors

maybe it seems that way to you because you're still upset with my view on Trey Smith's beatdown, and feel the need to stalk and belittle me on threads on different topics?

I don't want to tell you how to live, but eventually it's time to move on with your life.

Not upset...bemused. Mainly because it was an obvious troll job. If that had been another team’s top recruit, no way you advocate kicking him off the team and prosecuting him...for a FIGHT. :w00t: You had some kind of endgame, because no honest fan of any other team who posts on here droned on about that incident. And dude? I’m ALREADY on this board! There’s no “stalking”. It’s like a home invader accusing the resident family of such.

Life’s fine. Why don’t you go find another troll project?
