Why Pruitt stayed (conjecture)

I don't think that is the only reason he stayed, but I am sure he's happy to get the money.

He just signed a contract with UT for a HUGE raise. It's a lot of money, but in his context, probably not a primary factor in the decision.

Poor Guy. Needed money for the moving company.

He remained to win to be the first Bamma assistant to beat Saban. He is known to be very competitive.

Maybe with you. It is not all about with money. If it is what our AD thought was it was the correct decision, so do I. Get over it and move on. Fans do not need to betch and complain about every decision made.

I just know if there’s no money on the table he would’ve been a Tennessee the next day

nope, that's not what i am claiming. i am claiming the money was a big factor in his decision, and possibly the chief motivation.

I am sure that "being an Alabama guy", being loyal to Saban, being loyal to the players, wanting to have the fun experience of coaching the NC, his competitive nature, exposure for recruiting, among many other factors, also contributed.

And I disagree with your claim. Also, Pruitt didn’t say being “an Alabama guy”, being loyal to Saban, wanting to have the fun experience of coaching in the NC (something he’d already done 4 times previously) were reasons for simultaneously coaching at Alabama and his new employer Tennessee for a month. He said it was because he wanted to honor his commitments to his players....the players he promised, the players he coached, the players he committed to. And given how his former players have spoken glowingly about him on the record, I believe him.

I just don’t think a guy who’s likely a millionaire a couple/few times over and who is taking approximately a 200% raise which is 10x the payout he got for coaching in the NC game “did it for the money”...math doesn’t add up imo.

He could’ve very easily just moved on and begun his new job and saved himself the wear and tear he just put himself through, for a job that pays him much more in 1 month than the $234k he just got from Alabama.

It depends or your Perspective given your current financial state what u make and the amount of extra work involved...
Thing to remember is that bonus represents about 12% of what he was making at bama or 6% of his deal with UT. For the average guy that makes 50k a year that would be a bonus of $3100 or so. Is it worth it if u are in it just for money with the extra work and juggling two jobs etc?
Maybe, maybe not...him leaving 1/4 mil on the table is not the same to the guy working construction or on the other end to Bill gates... perspective:hi:

I agree, especially when it comes to those ultra rich guys. They can be pretty tight with their money, which is why guys like Warren Buffet still live in the $50,000 house he bought 40 years ago. Even Trump notices a quarter million dollars.

I think it’s all relative to what I put individual makes bottom line is again a quarter million dollars is a lot of money just like $3100 is to some people

Fact is that most all college and Pro coaches have a Bonus clause in their contract that outlines exactly how much extra $$$$ they'll get paid according to each step of postseaseon play they advance to.

It's nothing new or unusual, it's a standard clause in all coaching contracts now and it has been for many years.

Pruitt has been a Millionaire for quite awhile now so he has no financial worries to pressure him.

The OP here is clearly a useless TROLL and only trying to stir up useless crap when there's really nothing to stir up since this is normal for all coaches.

The other coaches and players love Pruitt and 1 of the reasons they do is because he tells it like it is and he keeps his word like all men of Honor will do.

Pruitt was getting loads of work done for UT the entire time he was keeping his word to Bama and their players.

Pruitt was constantly talking to Fulmer and his new coaching staff making certain they were on track and getting their assignments done.

He also had his UT issued laptop and spent endless hours reviewing film of recruits and our current players.

This is the dead period in recruiting so coaches are NOT allowed to call or visit recruits but you can bet that Pruitt had Merry Christmas and Happy New Year cards sent out as well as letters going out too.

Pruitt kept the agreement of the contract he signed and kept his word to his players and the other coaches as he said he would.

He didn't spend a lot of time celebrating after the game was over because he said he felt Guilty of not being in K town so he, his wife and our new DC got on a plane than very night and got to the hill ASAP and went right to work at Tennessee as he said he would.

Hey OP, you're just a useless TROLL so go spread your useless garbage elsewhere.

VN really has no use for useless TROLLS even though we have quite a few here unfortunately.

Since Pruitt was hired he's done loads of work for UT and some of his work so far has been amazing with recruiting in such a short time and in his hires of such really good coaches/recruiters.

I'm well satisfied with his body of work thus far and I look forward to watching him do a total rebuild of our program.

Mostly I can't wait to see our footVol Team playing with mostly his recruits in 3 or 4 years because I have a feeling that we'll all be very happy Tennessee fans.

Bama and UGa both have a HUGE lead on us right now but in 3 or 4 years I don't believe any team will take Tennessee for granted and will have to work their butts off to try to beat our footVol Team.

Our tunnel may be long right now but I see some light at the end of it.

VFL...GBO!!!

Just had a guy call me bastard and blame me for the oppression of the entire African American community, so the above "useless troll" insults, while harsh and makes me feel like crap, is actually the 2nd worst thing I've been called in the last hour.

No. It’s all relative imo. If you’re about to start making nearly $4mm, why in the world would you put yourself through what he just did the last month for $234k?

Did he like and appreciate the bonus for coaching Bama the last month? Of course, I’m sure he did, he didn’t wind up doing it for free. But was it THE REASON he decided to do it? I take the guy at his word and believe him when he says it was about following through with the promises he made to his players. Call me an idealist.
