Why not.....

All I am saying is at this point coaching options are dwindling down. We are going to wind up with some no name coach. Why not take a gamble on a coach with a shaky past? We did it 14 months ago with Lane. Kiffins actions of recent make Al Davis a smart man.

I am a TarHeel...the school in Chapel Hill. I grew up in Charlotte.

I am also a Vol. Graduated 2007

If you can't like that I support 2 teams then i guess your just going to have to deal with it

I appreciate your duality.

If UNC played UT in a championship game, and you could only root for one team to win, which would it be?

Gee really, I didn't think anyone in here could tell you where UNC is located.

Thats an easy one. I would pull for my alma mater...Go Vols

Also that scenario is highly doubtful so i dont have to worry about it too often

Leach, I would have no problem with. I think he is innocent of what he was accused of doing, and it's well known that he had problems with the Texas Tech administration long before this. They practically held the door for him to leave a year ago, when he was 11-2.

The only concern I have is that if we wanted Leach, we should have approached him before considering people like Derek Dooley. Now we'd just look desperate, instead of hiring him and thereby making a statement that we think Texas Tech is full of it.

No way in hell do I want Leavitt. There's plenty of evidence that he's guilty. We might as well dig up Woody Hayes.

Obviously we don't have people lining up to apply for the Tennessee job. So I ask why not just name Kippy the interim coach and have all year to look for a new coach. Maybe a better coach will be available next year.

Are any of you afraid that if we rush to get a new HC by this weekend we might be in the same boat again next year?

Yes, I've been saying this since yesterday! Unless Hamilton thinks he can get a "rock star" hire like Stoops or Lovie Smith I say just let Kippy be coach for the coming year, see what happens, and then make a decision at the end of next season. Rusing to make a quick hire now could do further damage.

But Bobby Knight has 3 championships and one undefeated season, these guys don't have either. With Knight you take the good with the bad but these guys aren't the same.

yea, that will be a great sales pitch to recruits... "come to UT guys. i'm only going to be here for a year and we have no idea who is going to replace me, but you should come play football for us" :eek:hmy:

This seems to be the play now, we have run out of options and if anyone is hired now it going to be a desperation move. When you get to your 4th choices things get hard and you make unwise decisions, we need to avoid the mistake USC made and let Kippy have the year and keep out options open. If Kippy does good then we will let him keep the job, if not there will be a whole new set of coaches looking for jobs at the end of next season

I've been saying this since day one! Why just jump at the first guy that says yes, let's take our time and get a grand slam coach! This season is shot for recruiting, that's why everyone is declining. Let's do this right this time!

One recruiting class does not a program make. No matter who gets hired, you can pretty much kiss this class goodbye unless, like I said, Hamilton lucks up and gets a Bob Stoops or a Lovie Smith. Better to have an interim coach than to hire a lemon and then have to buy HIS contract out in a couple of years.
