Trump Splits with one of his Closest Advisers as nasty MAGA civil war erupts over Iran
The escalating conflict between
Israel and
Iran has dramatically fractured the political forces that united to elect President
Donald Trump in 2024.
Rival factions of the MAGA movement are now openly feuding in an increasingly nasty civil war, and questioning whether the president will make what they regard as the right move in the Middle East.
Trump himself stunningly split with one of his own close advisers on Tuesday, dismissing
Congressional testimony from Director of National Security
Tulsi Gabbard.
In March, Gabbard stated that the intelligence community had assessed Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.
Her comments reemerged in recent days amid warnings that Iran may be on the verge of succeeding in its quest.
'I don't care what she said, I think they were very close to having one,' Trump said flatly when asked about Gabbard's statement.
When Gabbard was asked for a reaction to the president's comments, she maintained: 'What President Trump is saying is the same thing I said in my annual threat assessment in March to Congress.'
The escalating conflict in Iran continues splintering political forces that united to elect President Donald Trump in 2024.
