Why Not More Buzz on Chavis?

His teams have done very well over the years. He's been better than good.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Chavis has had defenses that have given up tons of points with future NFL players all over them. The defense gave up a lot of points during the Manning years. And then a ton of points during several seasons of the 2000s. A great defensive coordinator doesn't allow a guy to catch 7 passes after halftime when he caugt 9 in the first half. A great defensive coordinator doesn't give up 62 points to your main competition. Those aren't isolated cases either. The list is fairly long.

See my point???

He is a good defensive coach IMO, but not great. The term great gets thrown around much too loosely these days. "Great" should be reserved for a select few. Sorry, as good as Chavis is, he isn't one of them

His Defense gave up around 140 points this year and played WVU, Oregon, Arkansas, Alabama, etc. If that is not great, I don't know what is. Steele team tonight might give up more points in one game, lol. I say offer 1.4 million, double his salary. I know he is a UT guy at heart, it would be hard for him to turn it down (after the bowl game of course). He does not recruit, but with the number of guys he put in the NFL, I don't think that would be a problem especially if they keep LT.

Do any of you morons really think Chavis would come back? Take a few more hits from your bongs and you'll think we can hire fire Dooley and hire Saban or Miles!

Ah, yes, Third Down Chavis. The man that snatched more defeats out of the mouth of victory than anyone I have ever seen.

His signature "D" was any game against Spurrier.

Most notably on 3rd down and forever.

I still have nightmares of "First down Florida!"

Do. Not. Want.

Though I would take him over Dooley at this moment. I reserve the right to backtrack and change my opinion after next football season.

Wish he would take it: 1) has he been contacted 2) would he take it 3) why would he come back? 4) after the career he has had will he be offered other opportunities...head coaching offers?
Lots of questions to be answered
