Why not Franklin?

Vandy is Vandy; Tennessee is Tennessee.

Even after a historic win for Vandy's program and coach (which resulted in UT's head coach losing his job), what is the local, state, and national media talking about? The Tennessee head coaching search.

Tennessee at its worst is more interesting (and a national news story) than the most successful team in Vandy's recent history.

Whether you like Franklin or not, saying the guy can't coach is just dumb. Dooley might have stepped into a bad situation, but Franklin did exactly inherit a goal mind. What he is doing at Vandy has never been done before in the history of that program. To take them to back to back bowls and be in the top 15 in recruiting is simply impressive. The guy can flat out recruit. UT can at least talk to the guy or just pass him on to the next school, but he will not be coaching at Vandy next season. Someone will get a good coach for a good price. He might be arrogant, but he seems to be able to back it up.

Someone gets it.

I think the guy is a great coach and an even better recruiter. But the extracurriculars will come back to bite him; they always do.

We can - and will - do better

Because there are alot of better coaches that we should have no problem getting.

Art Briles
Sonny Dykes
Willie Taggart

Just to name a few. Plus that guy is a total a$$. Cannot stand him.

Franklin very well may be douche, but I like his crazy enthusiasm. Think that kind of fire is infectious

It seems all I've been reading on here about J. Franklin's potential as a replacement for Dools is a bunch "No, because he's d-bag". I would simply ask where is the logic in that line of thinkng? The guy will have taken Vandy, I repeat VANDY, to back to back bowls in the toughest conference in football, can recruit the state and the region, has energy and fire, etc. So why the hate? Because he threw it right back at Dools in the post game after Dools made his moronic statement last year after the Vandy game? Get over yourselves, haters. Do you want to win or not?

I don't care for him to be honest but if we do offer him and he says no we may get laughed at afterwards. Other than that and his attitude I guess go for it.

franklin is doing unprecedented work at VU.

however providing that UT is finally willing to put up competitive money, we should be able to do much, much better.

Franklin benefited from a previous coach that loaded his team down with redshirt Juniors and Seniors. Our program is at deaths door and we still have a higher average star rating than them on Rivals. We add a couple of 3 stars and we are ahead of them in recruiting. Vandy is awful and their coach is Kiffin lite

I don't hate Franklin. I think he has done an excellent job at Vanderbilt. But we need a big name here like Gruden to turn this thing around.

The announcers sure hyped him up - I wonder if he stays at Vanderbilt if a big offer came his way from someone else.

Ok

He's got the respect of his players. Whoever the new guy is.. He needs to change the mental attitude of this team..

If we don't hire him, another big name program won't care that a few message board posters think he's a d-bag, and it will be their gain.
