Why not Franklin?

You don't think he's a winner? Seriously, what makes you think he's a bad coach?

No. No. And. No.

Look at his wins. He has feasted on bad teams. Elon, Army, Presbyterian, and UMass account for about 40% of his wins. Plus he is an ass.

He just got Vandy bowl eligible for a second year in a row and he has a winning record at VANDY! That is very hard to do, imo.

Please look at the teams he has beaten. Please. It is not hard to beat Elon, Army, UConn, Wake Forest, Kentucky (twice), Ole Miss (twice), Auburn, Presbyterian, and UMass. Bad bad teams. He had a losing season last year.

Please no.

.... he's ONE GAME over .500

Nothing to see here....

At VANDERBILT in the SEC! When has any other coach been able to say that? Vanderbilt has played just as tough against SEC opponents as we have and he has more SEC wins than Dooley to show for it. Oh yeah, and he actually beat Mizzou. Once again, at Vandy of all places.

You forgot our common opponent, Mizzou.

Do you not look at the facts? I am not advocating for Dooley but we played Arkansas, Bama, and LSU last year and Bama and MSU this year. Who did they play? They get Ole Miss as their permanent West team. Just look at the facts.

I would take him over Smart or any other top Coordinator. I don't think he gets a look due to being hated by TN for being Vandy's Bruce Pearl. I also doubt he would consider TN, because he hates TN more than the TN fans hate him.

Ok, and Dooley beat him with a broken-thumb QB.... so what?

Vandy beat a different Mizzou team than we played because of Mizzou's injuries

And he very well may beat us next week. Vandy could get to 9 wins if they win out. That's unheard of at Vanderbilt. They played South Carolina and Florida just as close as we did this year, with a ton less talent. He's taking less and doing more with what he has got. That's what you look for in a coach, at least if you ask me.

Oh yea one team. And I don't believe Franklin played that game. If he did he did not the whole game.

Seriously Derek Dooley beat him. Just no.

Isn't Tennessee supposed to beat Vanderbilt no matter who is the coach? Also, we'll see what happens next week. Vanderbilt has looked a hell of a lot better than us this year.

Awesome thread is awesome. Nothing says we want to be 6-6 every year and never beat anyone better than us like hiring James Franklin.

I expect Vandy to be favored by 7ish when the line comes out.

That wasn't the point. I am not arguing for keeping Dooley. I am arguing against Franklin. Looked a lot better? Not on offense. Franklin has feasted on beating bad teams. I am not saying he is a bad coach. Kudos for getting Vandy to bowl games, but the wins just aren't there.
