Why not Franklin?

No, doing it year in and year out would. Alas, the last recruiting class he had was 29th in the nation, 9th in the SEC. I'm not impressed with Franklin yet, and neither should the college football world.

Then why impressed with strong??

They both have only been HC for short times

Because with UT's recruiting budgets and Strong's Florida and Georgia ties, he would do really well at recruiting compared to Franklin. Franklin would get swallowed up like Dooley did here.

Bruin Vol, are you Clay Travis. That is the only other person I know who would talk this James Franklin crap like you are.

I like strong. Check my post I have been pounding him as my second choice all along. Franklin doesn't pass him IMO but he is neck And neck with him. If our pride could get out of the way he would be solid choice

Really. Big east is now equal to SEC. Wow

Seriously? Comparing conference wins? Strong is in the big east.

And?? Two of the teams Vandy built have ZERO SEC wins. Let that sink in for a second, before people start touting Franklin's 8 win season. Vandy's best wins in the Franklin era is Ole Miss twice, and Wake Forest twice.

Let's look at some facts:

Since Franklin arrived at Vandy, there are win less against ranked teams (same as before).

Since Franklin arrived at Vandy, they are 2-6, and 4-4 in the SEC (6-10). While that looks impressive on it's face, realize that over that same span UT played a total of 10 ranked SEC teams, Vandy played 6.

In this same time period (2 years), by my count UT has beaten 4 teams with winning records (NCSU, Cincy, Montana and Vandy). Vandy has only beaten 2 (Wake Forest ('11), Ole Miss ('12)).

I understand that Vandy and Franklin are making a ton of noise, but I don't see it translating to real results. Is Franklin getting the Commodores to play better than they have historically, yes. On paper, you see Vandy beating Auburn, Tennessee and going bowling and think..man what a great job. Then you see that Auburn and Tennessee are at almost historical lows for their programs.

It appears the further I dig into this, that Vandy is "All hat, no cattle" but Franklin is certainly winning games against teams with better talent. Those more talented teams are simply awful.

Compare them to Louisville please???

Are we comparing Vandy to Tennessee here??

Compare them to Louisville please???

Just this year, Louisville has beaten two 8 win teams. That's two more than Franklin has beaten in two years. Last year, you know what, it doesn't matter, because Franklin has beaten exactly ZERO winning teams in his tenure at Vandy.

Who are those teams strong beat??

Would Tennessee or ole miss be favored over them??

Are we comparing Vandy to Tennessee here??

We have to. Isn't that the whole point of actually playing a game? To compare team A and team B?

UT is 1-1 against Vandy with James Franklin. My point and whole argument surrounds the differences in perception. Vandy wins a few games against awful teams and they are on the rise, supposedly. People are clamoring for Franklin and letting emotion trump reality.

UT appears to be much worse than we are (and we are bad) due to a ridiculous schedule, Vandy looks better than they are due to a terribly easy schedule. See the comparison I am making between UT and Vandy?

There is no effing way that we should be desperate enough to hire Franklin. Not going to happen.

That being said, the fact that some people are like "I would never watch a game if Franklin were hired/I hate him and he's a bad person and would embarrass UT" and then go on to say that they'd be happy with PETRINO is absolutely beyond me.

If UT hired either one, I would have much more free time in my week, at least until either one was gone.

Do some research on your own. It might do you some good.

Now I know why you weren't willing to get into the comparing of Louisville schedule to vandy. I did do some research and it did do me some good!!!

Louisville has wins vs
Kentucky
Missouri state
North Carolina
At FIU
At Pittsburg
At southern Miss
South florida
Temple
Cincy

They have losses to
Syracuse
Uconn

When comparing that to what Franklin has done at vandy please tell me which of those teams would be favored at Ole miss or for that matter against Tennessee.

Also vandy has lost to Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Their other loss was at northwestern which I would say every single opponent of Louisville schedule would have been an underdog at Northwestern.

The point is if you believe strong is a legit candidate which I certainly do then suck up your pride and admitt that Franklin has done more as a head coach than Charlie strong!!!

Most of us agree Franklin has done well for Vandy. We expect more. Vandy is excited and good for them. The only thing Id take from that staff is their DC, helluva coach.

James Franklin... Sigh...

They loss to Northwestern, Cinci, and Tennessee last year are as bad as the 2 losses Bruin is killing Strong over.

Last year Franklin needed Uconn to fall a part to win a close one.

Franklin schedules all pansies for out of conference games. Bobby Johnson went and played people. Franklin knows he can't go and win tough out of conference games.

He has feasted on Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn, ect. being historically bad.

He calls in to the radio every other day and sales his nonsense, and 104.5 perpetuates the madness.

.

Northwestern, Cincy, and tenn losses are worse than Syracuse and uconn??? And I didn't even look into Louisville losses from 2011.

Syracuse, Uconn, Tenn, Northwestern, and Cinci are all the same level team for the past couple of years.

Glad you brought up 2011 losses. Strong lost to

Marshall
FIU
Cincy
Pittsburg
North Carolina
NC state.

Franklin have a loss as bad as FIU?? How about Marshall??
