Why not Franklin?

realistically speaking, i think anyone on this list would do a pretty good if not great job here:

Franklin
briles
gundy
dykes
tubbs

the following would be great, but are unrealistic or just plain absurd:

gruden
patterson
stoops
c. Peterson
jimbo

fify

Sorry......but i dont want to hear how we got vandy's retreads just so we could win. I'd rather find someone else, than endure that crap.

Franklin has done well at Vandy but consider he basically did at Vandy what Dooley SHOULD have done at UT this year. Before the season, many Vol fans (myself included) said in reality 8 wins should be maybe minimum and he had a chance to win 8 and not even beat a ranked team.

Vandy is probably going to end up with 8 wins and of all the 8 teams, probably ZERO will be going to end up in a bowl. Missouri will have to beat Texas A&M, Ole Miss will have to beat Miss. St., and Wake Forest will have to beat...Vandy.

Anyone who looks at Franklins success as fluke, clearly does not understand the reality of what it takes to succeed in building a SEC program.

Like him or hate him, Franklin is a rising star and is one of the best coaches in this league and in all of college football. Get over the Vanderbilt stigma that you may carry. The guy can recruit like nobody else's business and he can coach his ass off.

They can only play the team on their schedule, but they beat Ole Miss and Mizzou on the road. The fact is that they were still better than several SEC teams speaks volumes of what he has done to improve that program

If UT can not land Gruden, Mora, or J. Fisher, then I sure hope we pursue James Franklin hard. He is far superior than Charlie Strong as a recruiter and a coach.

In the end, James Franklin will end up being his own worst enemy. Ego's like that always get in the way.

Tennessee could do worse and Tennessee did do worse with its last hire. If Tennessee does not hit on its main targets, then he should be considered.

Vandy winning big again to go 8-4. This guy can coach and recruit. He has proven it. Franklin would be less of a gamble IMO than Gruden.

He'd have to come to us. You'll almost never see a school go flat out and offer/talk to a rival school...because if he turns it down or isn't interested, that coach could (if he so chooses) go right to media and go on about how he turned down an offer at rival school / rival school came to him with an offer and he said no

Get real OP. if you think Franklin would excite our fan base, I want some of what you're smoking. Franklins record is inflated against one of the easiest schedules in the SEC. His 5 SEC wins came against SEC teams that have a combined 4-36 SEC record. Dooley could have kept his job with Vandys schedule.
