Go offer Dabo 20 million per year to coach this team. Why not? Make him the undisputed highest paid coach in America and he might just jump ship. Bam! Proven national championship caliber coach in his prime with many good years to come. It's like trading for Gretzky!

Dabo will end up at Alabama eventually, don't you think?:)

Why, so they can run him out of town if he doesn't have a NC by year 3?

He's basically a king in Clemson. Owns several nice homes, no pressure.

Same argument can be made for Venables. Makes more money than he can spend with none of the pressure of a head coaching gig.

I really don't like the idea of rival fans stumbling upon our board and finding this thread.

Probably more of a distorted view of willingness of boosters to hand over millions hahaha

Ironic, considering how much we’re paying on the back end of the Butch era. If they would just bite the bullet and stop hiring like mosquito d*ck losers, then this program could reach its full potential.

I don't know how many remember. But, rumors were swirling at one point in 09' or 10' about Fulmer taking the Clemson job. I remember Phil being asked about it and he responded "I think they've already got a coach". I was thinking at the time that CU sure had to settle to promote someone from inside. Boy, was I ever wrong. Once CDS got a little experience it all just took off!

Will you describe to me just one regular day in your life??? Are you one of those people who lose a shoe on the interstate???

I wish I could give more than one like to this. Totally stealing this line to use on other boards

Truth is, if Dabo Sweeney was offered $20 mil to coach Tennessee, he would be a fool to not take it. Nothing remarkable about this man--after his second or third year at Clem's-son, he was looking to be 'let go'. No magic there--well, maybe there was some 'magic' there.

Fact is, this whole recruiting thing is nothing more than marketing (not my specialty). It isn't a matter of cycles as much as it is 'waves'. The Sweeney wave is about 3/4 over us--what is the next wave?

Does anyone think for one minute that Clemson, with their only legacy being Danny Ford, the most crooked coach in possibly US history, is more worthy of a championship type coach than Tennessee?

Fact is, I don't think for one minute that Sweeney is anything more than a flash in the pan--a momentary zeitgeist of the football coaching world.

He will pass. We can do better. We should just move on to the next great one.
