Why Not a Home and Home with Chattanooga?

Really, take your Orange colored glasses off and expand your existence beyond Ktown. The little brother complex that you have is not health for our program. Alot of UTC alums despise UT because of this and it does not help recruiting around the state that we need (Tennessee kids that play for their home state) or as for our flagship program that Vandy has own for the past 4 years hopefully that is about to change this weekend. As for you including Memphis and Vandy in the discussion (hated by most of the state, I being a number 1 hater), they are outside of the UT system and are not relative to this post. A strong UT state program help the state and UTK. PS UTC held their own as a little brother tonight. Lose the attitude and support the UT system.
I could care less about the health of UTC's program...I am a UT fan and alum. And i could care less that some UTC people hate and are jealous of UT....they should be...we own them, they are meaningless in all sports.

You have a inferiority complex about UT as is stated from your post, but it's earned....Vandy, Tigger High, MTSU, ETSU, UTC, Austin Peay, Tenn Tech, Carson Newman, who cares about any of them? We are discussing actual big time college athletics on a UT message board....The Mocs are nobodies who have accomplished nothing....and never will....enjoy mid-major life.

Chattanooga is known for the riverfront and gang violence and a choo-choo....it;s better than Memphis at least

JMO, but you can support your belief that Tennessee doesn’t owe it to Chattanooga, UT-Martin, etc., to play a home and home (an opinion I happen to share) without dogging them the way you are.

No one is really arguing that those teams and/or programs are on par with or better than Tennessee, so to call them nobodies and insinuate that they are garbage programs who don’t deserve respect just makes you seem unnecessarily bitter towards them.

Strengthening the basketball profile in the state of Tennessee amongst all universities should be seen as a good thing, so I am glad we play a couple of them every year. However, other than Memphis, none of them are on a scale that they would deserve a return game from Tennessee outside of a simple goodwill gesture. That is a gesture that doesn’t benefit Tennessee in any way, so I am fine with us not extending it.

You earn respect...there are about 15-20 college football programs and about 20-30 college basketball programs that i would respect because they have earned it...we are talking about athletics, and i'm not going to respect some rinky-dink FCS mid-major just because they happen to be in the same state geographically. Tennessee is the only sports program in the state that matters, especially to true Vol fans...they don't need schools who cant draw 3,000 people to a game to dictate to them how they should make Moc fans "feel like a part of the system" or that they owe them anything.

As I said, we share the same general opinion. I just think your delivery is what is drawing the ire of the posters who disagree with you. To each their own, though.

We used to do this some, especially under Pearl. We played at Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee, I remember, and he said he liked doing it. We also played at ETSU a few years ago. That's not the norm throughout college basketball for giant state schools going against smaller state schools, though.

Also, this specific game was part of the Emerald Coast Classic preliminary rounds and was scheduled by them (as was the Alabama State game), so it was never going to be in Chattanooga.

The only mid major the recently that's taken things up a step has been MTSU, and their coach has since left. I could see a game there more realistically since it's much further then UTC and would give UT fans in middle or west Tennessee a chance to see the Vols. That and I have to give credit to a mid major program that can not only make the NCAA 2 years in a row(2016 and 2017), but also pull a 1st round upset 2 years in a row.

That, and one of the teams they upset was Michigan State. I can respect a team that can beat up on Tom Izzo.

Why have a home and home with Chattanooga?

Chattanooga is a mid major just like majority of other Tennessee schools. Why does anyone think they’re special?
