Why are we not seeing the staff fill out? I thought as many others that we would have a nearly complete if not totally complete staff by now. I can understand if I were hearing of CLK interviewing officially, but I am hearing nothing. Am I wrong? What are you hearing about staff?

I agree, thought it would be a done deal by now..
Unless there's another NFL'er he's waiting that's still in the playoffs

He said it wasn't going to happen fast, that it is going to be done right.

Patience young grasshopper...patience :)

The only thing I have heard recently is there would not be another press conference until the offensive staff is completed. CLK is working toward that while trying to steal some late recruits. I have the feeling more priority is being put on trying to secure some of these highly rated recruits visiting this month than completing the staff at this moment. Just MO of course.

1-I think Kiffin was a little upset at how much publicity the Coach O and Garner talks received. I think he wants to keep things a little more private.

2-I think he was waiting until after the NC game to interview Gonzales. That hire affects the hire of Gran. If Gonzo comes on, then Drayton will probably stay as RB coach. If not, Gran may be hired to coach RB/ST and Drayton may move to WR's.

3-In the beginning, CLK spoke of a pro staff at UT. I think since there have been so many coaching changes in the NFL, many assistants are interviewing and waiting for these coaches to fill out their staffs. Guys like Schneider, who is a very popular choice to coach ST's, Bates, who may stay in Denver even if a new coach comes in, and Bradley, who recently interviewed for Seattle's DC. I think CLK may be waiting to hire a LB and DB coach until some of the NFL coaching vacancies are filled. (Lake, Perry, Bradley, Skipper, Lee, and Schneider are all possibilities) If these guys aren't hired in the pros, they may be joining our staff.

I personally would like to see this coaching staff:
HC-CLK
OC/TE-Chaney
QB-Reaves
WR-Gonzales
RB/ST-Gran
OL-Cregg
DC-Monte
DL-O
LB-Thompson (Bama)
DB-Hughes (So Miss)

This would be the best recruiting staff in the NCAA, period.

I don't think Drayton would end up coaching WR's. Gran has coached WR's he would likely end up there before Drayton. Even though Gran is the better RB coach.

I also don't look for Gonzales to come.

I think the hold up is NFL coaching hires playing out. When those start falling is when you will see this staff finished up. It may be longer than we would like. But it would be nice to have a WR coach before all these WR's come in for visits.

Kiffin told some recruit that he would meet the whole staff when he's on his official visit.

I would say more than likely Gran will be our new WR/ST coach. Looking worse for Gonzales hire everyday.

I would like to hear more news as well. However I think he might be looking at some coaches that are still playing in the playoffs. Not sure who though. In an article a read a week or maybe 2 ago it said Kiffin would have his staff complete by the 2nd week of January. It did go on to say this may be delayed if the teams of coaches he has targeted are still playing. It could also have to do with his wife. Its my understanding that the baby is due any day now.
