Why no pink for UT?

Wow.. some of your responses surprise me. Especially the negative ones towards awareness of breast cancer.

Sorry. I would proudly wear a pink UT shirt.. I've lost too many friends and family to this terrible disease.

Go look up how much of that money goes to actual cancer research and then come back and tell us if you're still angry about it. P

Wondering if it is an Addidas contract thing. Has Miss State or AM worn it? They are Addidas too.

Edit: in support of breast cancer awareness but don't care if we wear pink or not. Ribbon on the field etc would be fine

Was at Miss State game and they wore it. Not an Adidas thing.

Pink and orange would be painful on the eyes . It's that simple. Those two colors never go together.

I'm so sick of the pink crap.

Obviously, it's not because I'm for cancer. It's because like everything else, it's got to be used for marketing because women are better consumers.

Why do you think there is no hype about prostate cancer, even though it affects more total people than breast cancer?

I know I'm going to come off as an A-hole here, but really, it's time other cancers and diseases get some "awareness." I'm pretty sure all U.S. women know to get mammograms at the appropriate age now.

Because wearing pink saves lives. Also, thinking it is ridiculous makes you pro-cancer. I swear there some stupid people on this site.

TN probably gets 100 request a month to honor different causes. Just donate some money to the cause and move on. You cant change the uniform at every request.

Baskin robbins begs to differ:

Word out of Bucksnort is that Dooley refuses to trade in the orange pants for pink ones until he wins a game in October.

No it is not ridiculous. If you knew anyone or have been personally affected then you would not think so.

Like my mother? I can assure you Mississippi St wearing pink socks played no part in her beating it.

Everyone in the country is "aware" of breast cancer. Wearing pink on everything is just a cheap ploy to-

A. Get more female fans interested
B. Spend a lot of money on extra gear that is colored pink without actually donating a dime to breast cancer cure research, which is largely wasted on salaries of the administrators of such charities to begin with

Man, Do you not remember the backlash of the black jerseys? There is to this day people who complain, a lot, about the black outline on our away jerseys.

Miss. State wore it against us when we played them.

I'm kind of scratching my head as to why UT Football choose not to participate in the Breast Cancer Awareness month?

SIAP.. but, to me.. feels kind of like another fail..

Thoughts?

Our defense is already showing plenty of pink... if you know what I mean.

:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol: Sorry but that's absurd. Not only does the SEC have plenty of female fans, but thinking the color pink will get women who don't like football to watch it is plain dumb.

Say what you will about whether it's meaningful beyond, you know, showing respect to countless women in our lives and others' lives that have suffered or died from this horrible disease as well as their families (men included) or whether or not it does enough to raise money (pink does go to breast cancer research to some degree) but don't float such ridiculous theories.

Not a big fan of all the pink all month. Is one game/week not sufficient?

Besides, is all the money raised actually helping cure breast cancer, or is it just making Susan "G" Komen more wealthy? The treatment of breast cancer (chemo, radiation, mastectomy) has changed very little in spite of all the "awareness."

Before you blast me, yes I have a family member who survived breast cancer.
